House of Style to Return in October as Digitally Driven Series with New Host to be Announced Live on 2012 MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet
August 7, 2012, New York - MTV today premiered a brand new original documentary, "House of Style: Music, Models and MTV" that charts the rise and influence of its iconic fashion series, House of Style. The documentary entitled, "House of Style: Music, Models, and MTV" highlights the series' impact in the convergence music and fashion, the instrumental role the show played in making fashion accessible to the masses, the show's influence in the creation of the supermodel during the 1990s, as well as the intersection of high end and street fashion.
The documentary features former House of Style hosts Cindy Crawford (1989-1995), Daisy Fuentes (1997) and Rebecca Romijn (1997-1999), along with artists (including Duran Duran, Rita Ora, Kat Graham, Azealia Banks, Theophilus London), fashion industry elite (Coco Rocha, Todd Oldham, Anna Sui, Karlie Kloss, Jane Pratt), and MTV producers discussing the show's legacy, examining the connection between music and the distinct fashion eras in the 90s, and highlighting the potential for the forthcoming new series. The documentary debuts today on MTV Style.
"House of Style tapped into a special moment in time when music and fashion really converged into one in ways we'd never seen before and haven't seen since," said Dave Sirulnick, former executive producer for House of Style, and executive producer of "Music, Models and MTV." "The series proved groundbreaking in its ability to evolve with the changing fashions of the decade by presenting style as accessible and obtainable for the masses."
In late July, MTV announced that House of Style would return on October 9 in the form of a digitally driven series hosted on MTV Style and extend across all MTV digital and social screens with TV integrations as well.
"Fashion is now global and accessible to people everywhere," said Cindy Crawford "People have always looked to MTV as an indicator of style, so it's great to celebrate the return of 'House of Style.'"
In celebration of the Series' forthcoming return, MTV recently debuted the House of Style 'Collection,' a digital archive, filled with more than 170 video segments, as well as thousands of still images from legends including supermodel and former host Cindy Crawford, Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, CFDA award-winning designer Marc Jacobs and legendary singer and fashion designer Gwen Stefani, sponsored exclusively by Magnum Ice Cream. In addition to the clips, each piece is accompanied with newly-penned editorial content by MTV Style Senior Editor Mary H.K. Choi, that contextualizes the information for fashion fans past and present.
"House of Style: Music, Models and MTV" is produced and directed by Nicola Darrach with Mary H.K Choi, Sophia Rai, Colin Helms and Dave Sirulnick serving as executive producers.
