NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 2, 2012 - A&E's hit original series "Duck Dynasty" will host the network's first ever Google+ Hangout on Wednesday, October 3 at 8PM EST/7PM CST. In addition to the live fan chat with the entire "Duck Dynasty" cast, A&E is rolling out a robust social media campaign all week leading up to the series' season 2 premiere on Wednesday, October 10 at 10PM ET/PT.
Beginning with the Google+ Hangout, a select group of fans will get the chance to "hangout" live with Duck Dynasty's Robertson family. During this live video chat, fan favorites, Willie, Jase, Si, and Phil will talk directly to five fans, answer questions in real time from the series' Twitter and Facebook communities and officially announce their "Join the Dynasty" contest where one lucky fan can win a chance to become an honorary member of the Robertson family for a day. The series' executive producer Scott Gurney will host the chat. The hangout will stream live at http://plus.google.com/+AE and www.Youtube.com/AETV. It will also be archived on Google+, Youtube and at www.aetv.com/DuckDynasty and www.facebook.com/duckdynasty.
The "Join the Dynasty" campaign can be found at www.RobertsonDynasty.com and is the ultimate fan engagement. From now until October 17th, fans can tweet using a combination of text, photos and/or video explaining why they deserve to be an honorary member of the family, using the hash tag; #JointheDynasty. The winner will be flown to Monroe, Louisiana for the ultimate Robertson-for-a-day experience.
In addition, any fan can look like a Robertson. Fans can celebrate the return of "Duck Dynasty" by using the "Beard Yourself" app on Facebook at www.facebook.com/duckdynasty, where four different beards, representing the four Robertson men, can be overlaid onto an uploaded photo - so go beard yourself!
"Duck Dynasty" is also gamefying Twitter; starting Sunday, October 7, a virtual duck call will be launched where multiple Twitter accounts associated with the series (both the Robertson's personal handles and @DuckDynastyAE) will tweet #Quack at various times of the day. The first fan to respond using #Duck wins a $100 gift card and a custom Chia Willie Pet http://bit.ly/U1mbFN. The game will continue into the first three weeks of premieres on October 10th, 17th and 24th, where the hash tag will also appear on-air along with a flying duck graphic.
"Duck Dynasty" follows the Robertsons; Louisiana's most dynamic backwoods family running a multi-million dollar duck call empire. They're managing a thriving business while staying true to their rugged southern lifestyle where the outdoors is second only to family.
"Duck Dynasty" is one of A&E's fastest growing series; the season one finale of "Duck Dynasty" on May 23, 2012 drew 2.6 million total viewers and 1.5 million in both adults 25-54 and 18-49 demos, making it cable's number one original show for the night.
