COMEDY CENTRAL's Indecision Launches New Digital Original Series That Gives
an In-Depth Comedic Analysis of Real Political Ads and Campaign Videos
"30 Seconds Over Washington" Is a Reboot of the HBO Original and Interstitial Programming
First Hosted by Bill Maher and Dennis Miller
NEW YORK, October 18, 2012 - It's election season, which means TVs are being barraged with political ads and campaign videos, many of which are unintentionally funny and just plain weird. In an effort to decipher these ridiculous political videos, COMEDY CENTRAL's Indecision has launched "30 Seconds Over Washington," a new digital original series starring comedian Kyle Kinane. The brand's newest digital series is a revamp of the HBO original and interstitial programming starring Bill Maher and Dennis Miller, which premiered prior to the 1996 elections. "30 Seconds Over Washington" will analyze the onslaught of real campaign videos and political ads from the past and the present, as well as user-generated content from the American people, through weekly videos, viewable now on indecision.cc.com
Over the course of the next eight episodes, Kinane will examine political ads and videos through a comedic lens in various segments including "Crazy, Bulls#*t, Makes Sense," where he compares three videos and identifies each with the descriptions of "crazy," "bulls#*t" or "makes sense;" "We The People," which showcases political videos uploaded by real American voters; "HAW?!?!," which looks at political ads that are so bizarre that all you can say is "HAW?!?!;" "I'd Vote For That Guy," which highlights a serious, yet involuntarily hilarious, campaign video that wins Kinane's vote and many others.
"30 Seconds Over Washington" will encourage fans to interact with the show as well as with each other on various digital screens including CC.com, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Viewers will
have the opportunity to vote on weekly polls, write and share their own jokes, suggest future political ads and share GIFs and memes exclusively from the series.
Kyle Kinane has previously performed on "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" and will appear in the COMEDY CENTRAL original stand-up special, "Kyle Kinane: Whiskey Icarus," on Saturday, November 24 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
"30 Seconds Over Washington" is executive produced by Doug Warner, Edd Griles and Rick Newman, the originators of the series' run on HBO.
COMEDY CENTRAL's Indecision -- the network's award-winning brand of political coverage --began in 1992 with the Al Franken-hosted "State of the Union: Undressed." This unprecedented, live comedic coverage of President George Bush's 1992 State of the Union Address was made possible only after COMEDY CENTRAL successfully pressured ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN to provide the network access to the pool feed of the speech. The success of that special -- the original alternative to mainstream political coverage -- led to COMEDY CENTRAL's "Indecision" election coverage with nightly reports from the 1992 Republican and Democratic national conventions and an in-depth election night special. Today, comedy fans and politicos can follow "COMEDY CENTRAL's Indecision," the digital extension of the network's political coverage, by logging onto indecision.cc.com, following Indecision on Tumblr, liking the Indecision page on Facebook or following @indecision on Twitter. "COMEDY CENTRAL's Indecision" team consists of Mary Phillips-Sandy, Dennis DiClaudio, River Clegg, Gonzalo Cordova, Jess Dweck, Ilya Gerner, Lisa Beth Johnson and Dan Poppy.
Available on-air, online and on-the-go, COMEDY CENTRAL (www.cc.com) is the #1 brand in comedy and is owned by, and is a registered trademark of, Comedy Partners, a wholly-owned unit of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA and VIAB).
