DADS (FOX/20th; W: Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild; D: Mark Cendrowski) - Giovanni Ribisi has joined the cast of the multi-camera comedy, about two successful video game developers - family man Warner (Ribisi) and perpetually single Eli (Seth Green) - who have their lives turned upside down when their nightmare dads (Martin Mull, Peter Riegert) unexpectedly move in with them. He'll succeed Tommy Dewey, who played said role in the recently completed pilot. Said development comes on the heels of Vanessa Lachey replacing Erin Pineda as Warner's wife after the table read. Brenda Song and Tonita Castro also star. (Deadline.com)


DOWN LO (HBO, New!) - Seth Zvi Rosenfeld ("How to Make It in America") has sold a potential drama to the pay channel set in Miami's South Beach, exploring the party town's popular music scene and sports and fashion circles. Among the storylines: "a gay rapper living on the down low as homosexuality is still not readily accepted in the hip-hop community." The Get Lifted Film Company and Flame Ventures are co-producing the hour with Rosenfeld, John Legend, Tony Krantz, Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius executive producing and Reece Pearson serving as a co-executive producer. AND IN OTHER NEWS... - NBC has commissioned four backup scripts from its drama pilot "The Night Shift," formerly known as "After Hours" (Deadline.com); Robert Lifton has been named executive producer of Twentieth Television's Kris Jenner-hosted "Kris," which begins its six-week trial run on Monday, July 15 (Deadline.com); Wanda Sykes and Page Hurwitz's Push It Productions has inked a first-look deal with Universal Television (Deadline.com); Autumn Reeser and Garcelle Beauvais are both bound for the new season of "Necessary Roughness" (TVLine.com); and Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios has leased a new production space in Culver City in anticipation of its 35th and 36th television series, both sitcoms targeted for a September 2014 launch (THR.com).
