Great American Country Expands "Living Country" Lifestyle Genre
New, Returning Series Celebrate Values, Passion, Music That Define America
The Willis Clan, Farm Kings, New Music Specials Anchor 2013 Programming Slate
NEW YORK -April 23, 2013 -- Great American Country connects to viewers with original programming that focuses on what is most important in life: hard work, strong family bonds and living life more simply. It's what Living Country is all about. GAC today announced a 2013-2014 lineup that incorporates a new series, The Willis Clan; a second season of Farm Kings, the network's highest-rated series ever; and new music specials and documentaries.
The Willis Clan: If raising a large family was an extreme sport, Toby and Brenda Willis would be gold medalists. In a bucolic country setting in Middle Tennessee, they focus full-time on family life that includes their 12 children, ages 2 - 21, who are accomplished singers, musicians and in the case of the older kids, internationally-ranked competitive dancers. This new series goes behind the scenes with this family of talented, self-reliant and exceptional siblings. While some may find their ways unconventional, the Willis clan lives family life to the extreme with equal parts love and intense discipline and it seems to be working. Thursday, June 27, 8:00 p.m. ET
Farm Kings: America has fallen in love with the King family, their work ethic and commitment to each other and in the case of the oldest brothers, their rugged good looks and athletic physiques. Farm Kings recently returned for a second season. Last season, partners Joe, Tim and Pete King grew the Freedom Farms brand to include free range chicken alongside their vast assortment of produce offerings and their plans for the new season include cattle and pigs, adding enormous responsibilities to an already overworked family. Dan, ever frustrated as he continues to be passed over for a partnership offer he so desperately wants, actually sought winter employment outside of the farm and could be weighing his options in terms of not working for his family. A possible crushing blow to the family, this would also greatly impact the King's small but productive work force as each family member has specific jobs to do. Beyond farming, the King's story is one of a large and loving family living the American dream despite constant challenges. Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET
Kimberly's Simply Southern: A one-of-a-kind cooking show featuring lively and engaging Little Big Town founding member Kimberly Schlapman, spotlights her lifelong passion for making simple, home cooked recipes with her family and country singing friends back home--using local culinary finds from all corners of the country. In the second season, Kimberly discovers America's best local foods, ingredients, and traditions while on the road with her band, Little Big Town which won the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for
"Pontoon." In each episode, Kimberly hops off the tour bus to discover the people who share her love of tasty good vittles. Once back in her Nashville kitchen, Kimberly is joined by family and some of her famous friends to create authentic southern cuisine combining her traditional family recipes with what she has learned during her travels. Saturdays, 1:00 p.m.
Origins: The Band Perry: Kimberly Perry and younger brothers Neil and Reid have ascended to dizzying heights with a string of hit singles (including the quadruple-platinum "If I Die Young"), multiple CMA and ACM awards and sold-out tours. Go back with the band to Greeneville, Tenn., where it all started with a 15-year-old Kimberly and her 10- and 8-year-old brothers and very supportive parents who knew then what their children were born to do. Hear from those closest to them how they went from playing malls and campgrounds to becoming one of the most successful trios in recent history. Saturday, May 11, 10:00 p.m. ET.
ACM Awards re-air: Relive the great performances and emotional moments from the 48th Annual American Country Music Awards. The show is co-hosted by Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan and features performances by Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Kelly Clarkson, Sheryl Crow, Hunter Hayes, Jewel, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, The Band Perry, Pistol Annies, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Stevie Wonder. ACM Red Carpet Live will lead into the broadcast at 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 9:00 p.m. ET
Brad Paisley Spins The Wheelhouse Live in Las Vegas: Superstar Brad Paisley performs a long list of hits as well as material from his recently released Wheelhouse album as part of an after-hours, post ACM Awards celebration in Las Vegas. Wednesday, May 29, 10:00 p.m./Eastern
