MSNBC'S MELISSA V. HARRIS-PERRY CHATS W. KAMAU BELL WHEN "TOTALLY BIASED" RETURNS MAY 9
New York, NY - May XX, 2013 - W. Kamau Bell welcomes MSNBC's Melissa V. Harris-Perry as his guest Thursday, May 9 @ 11:00pm ET/PT, on Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.
Melissa V. Harris-Perry is host of MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry, a two-hour Saturday and Sunday late morning series which offers in-depth discussion and insightful analysis of cultural and political trends. A professor of political science at Tulane University, Harris-Perry is founding director of the "Anna Julia Cooper Project" on Gender, Race, and Politics in the South. She previously served on the faculties of the University of Chicago and Princeton University. Harris-Perry also authored the well-received book, "Sister Citizen: Shame, Stereotypes, and Black Women in America," which argues that persistent harmful stereotypes profoundly shape black women's politics, contribute to policies that treat them unfairly, and make it difficult for black women to assert their rights in the political arena.
Harris-Perry is the latest in a growing roster of stars who have visited Totally Biased to share their views, including Don Cheadle, David Alan Grier, George Takei, Wanda Sykes, John Oliver, Tom Morello, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and journalists Rachel Maddow, Matt Taibbi and Dave Zirin.
Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, from Bell and Executive Producers Chris Rock, Chuck Sklar and Keri Smith Esguia, stars standup comedian W. Kamau Bell as he hilariously dissects politics, pop culture, race, religion, sex and the media from his own unique point of view. The show is a mix of Bell's commentary, live guests, sketch comedy and taped segments. A half-hour series, Totally Biased is produced by FX Productions and is shot in New York City before a live studio audience.
This September, with the launch of FXX, Totally Biased will go daily, with 130 new original episodes, airing Monday through Thursday nights at 11:00 PM ET/PT, with Best of the Week compilation episodes Sunday nights at 11:00 PM ET/PT.
W. Kamau Bell, recently declared by The New York Times to be "the most promising talent in political comedy in many years," is one of the fastest rising socio-political comics in the United States.
