truTV Starts Production on New Episodes of Hit Series "Guinness World Records(R) Unleashed"

Series Hosted by Dan Cortese to Return Later This Year

truTV will go into production on brand new episodes of its hit series Guinness World Records(R) Unleashed on Wednesday, June 19, at the historic Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Hosted by Dan Cortese (Veronica's Closet, Surviving Suburbia, MTV Sports), the series features daring and fearless record hopefuls as they attempt to secure their place in history by breaking some truly outrageous world records. All new episodes of Guinness World Records Unleashed are set to launch on truTV later this year.

For years, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS have delighted, astonished and amazed readers with its book of incredible achievements. Now in Guinness World Records Unleashed, the curtain is drawn back to reveal what really goes on when the most unbelievable, jaw-dropping records are attempted. Each attempt is evaluated by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS officials, who have the final say over whether a record is broken.

Since the series premiered in February, a total of 42 amazing record attempts were made, with 20 successes, 21 failures and one tie. Among the successes were new records for the Highest shallow dive, Most drink can lids torn off with the teeth in one minute, Most consecutive backflips on a pogo stick, Highest jump into marshmallows, Most eggs crushed with the head in one minute and Most sausages swallowed in one minute.

New episodes of Guinness World Records Unleashed will tackle such records as the Fastest time running through 10 locked and burning doors, Highest bungee jump ending with a dunk of a donut, Longest moving quad bike jump, Most backflips on a water flyboard and Greatest height achieved after being launched from a cannon.

In addition to host Dan Cortese, Guinness World Records Unleashed will feature Stuart Claxton, the show's primary GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator. Liz Smith, also of GWR, and comedian Zach Selwyn (Greek, Battleship) will provide commentary on the action.

Guinness World Records Unleashed premiered on truTV in February as Guinness World Records Gone Wild! The series averaged more than 1.3 million viewers for its first six episodes and ranked as one of ad-supported cable's Top 3 programs in the Thursday 8 p.m. timeslot with key adult and male demos. It was also cable's #1 unscripted entertainment program in the timeslot with men 18-49 and adults 18-34. In addition, the series scored strong, double-digit growth for its timeslot and yielded a median age of only 34, seven years younger than the same time period last year.

Guinness World Records Unleashed is executive-produced by High Noon Entertainment's Jim Berger, Burt Kearns and Fred Birckhead. For GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS, Rob Molloy is executive producer. The one-hour series is being produced for truTV by High Noon Entertainment (Tough Love, Cake Boss, Hurricane Hunters).
