Chando: ABC Family Has Canceled "The Lying Game"
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC Family has pulled the plug on "The Lying Game" after two seasons.

Actress Alexandra Chando broke the news on her Twitter page, saying: "To our awesome #lyinggame fans, thank you for these two amazing seasons. Unfortunately, Abc Family has decided not to bring us back for a third season. We so wanted to do 10 more for you guys! Thanks for your support and keep up with the cast to see what's next for us! Xx."

"Lying Game's" currently ranks fifth among the network's dramas, just ahead of the departed "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and the still-in-limbo "Bunheads." Producer Warner Horizon Television extended the options of several cast members back in April while ABC Family awaited the results from its two new summer launches. With those numbers in, the cable channel presumably decided not to move forward with a new season.

ABC Family's year-to-date drama averages (in millions, 1/1/13-6/30-13):

2.691 - Pretty Little Liars (1.482 adults 18-49, 1.2 rating)
1.687 - Switched at Birth (0.912 adults 18-49, 0.7 rating)
1.587 - Twisted (0.710 adults 18-49, 0.6 rating)
1.567 - The Fosters (0.724 adults 18-49, 0.6 rating)
1.274 - The Lying Game (0.679 adults 18-49, 0.5 rating)
1.091 - Bunheads (0.564 adults 18-49, 0.4 rating)
1.040 - The Secret Life of the American Teenager (0.617 adults 18-49, 0.5 rating)
