LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Starz will be very busy in 2014. In addition to season two of "Da Vinci's Demons," the pay channel plans to roll out four new series: "Outlander," "Power," "Fortitude" and the just renewed "Black Sails."
Chris Albrecht, CEO of Starz, opened the network's session at the TCA Summer Press Tour tub-thumping said endeavors, not to mention took a few programming questions:
-- Steven DeKnight's sci-fi drama "Incursion," billed as "Band of Brothers" meets "Halo," remains in development. "We've put together a writer's room," he said. "There's been a lot of pre-production work that has been done. In doing that work, I think we've realized just how challenging from a production point of view this is." Adding, "So it's very much alive. It is on a slow pause just because we can't go forward with a pilot that would be, you know, affordable, not a good idea and to jump right into the series."
-- A third season of "Magic City" likewise remains under consideration. "Our policy process is one or two seasons of a show to really get behind something if we like the work... We have a couple of little surprises in our pocket in store, so I can't reveal too much other than you'll have the answer to your question soon."
-- There won't be a "Boss" wrap-up movie. "We tried to make that happen and Farhad [Safinia] just didn't see it in his head. So if he wasn't going to be able to come up with a way to do that, then there was certainly no way to proceed without him."
