YULE CAISE NAMED 2013 "FOX WRITERS INTENSIVE" FELLOW

FX Networks Inks Development Deal with Caise

NAACP Hollywood Bureau To Receive Financial Grant From Fox for Referral

Fox Audience Strategy today announced that writer/director Yule Caise has been selected as this year's Fox Writers Intensive (FWI) Fellow. Chosen from the sophomore class of 10 FWI finalists, Caise has inked a development deal with FX Networks, in conjunction with Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and 20th Century Fox Television Studios, and will pitch a new original script to FX Networks. In addition, Fox will award Caise's referring organization, the NAACP Hollywood Bureau, a $15,000 FWI grant to be earmarked for its writing program.

Launched in 2011, the Fox Writers Intensive is an advanced program designed to nurture experienced writers who have diverse voices, backgrounds and life experiences and create a strong pipeline of well-rounded talent for potential staffing on Fox productions. This year, Fox Audience Strategy expanded the FWI to provide opportunities across multiple Fox companies, including HarperCollins and 20th Century Fox Film.

"The Fox Writers Intensive program is an incredible resource for discovering new talents," said Eric Schrier, President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. "We're pleased to have recruited Yule as our first FWI fellow, and are eager to have him join the team of gifted writers who've made FX the home of so many critically acclaimed programs."

The FWI finalists spent four months (February through May 2013) participating in a rigorous curriculum, administered by FWI partner Film Independent, that focused on honing their craft and establishing deeper creative connections across Fox's television, film and other entertainment businesses. The program featured collaborative sessions with writers and producers, including Hart Hanson (BONES), Shintaro Shimosawa (THE FOLLOWING, "The Grudge"), Andre and Maria Jacquemetton ("Mad Men") and Zal Batmanglij ("Sound Of My Voice," "The East"). Reggie Rock Bythewood ("New York Undercover," "Notorious"), Marion Rosenberg ("Revolutionary Road"), Dave Finkel and Brett Baer (NEW GIRL) and Glen Mazzara ("The Walking Dead") also were among this year's FWI session participants.

"The program is a valuable tool for up-and-coming writers," said Brett Baer and Dave Finkel, executive producers of NEW GIRL. "We loved getting into it with the people in the program and hearing ideas from the next generation of showrunners and staff writers."

In addition to Caise, the sophomore FWI class included finalists Angela Allen, Sal Calleros, Carol Doyle, Sara Endsley, Warren Hsu Leonard, Nick Ozeki, Chitra Sampath, Theo Travers and Marisa Wegrzyn. Following their completion of the FWI, all of the finalists are being promoted across the Fox creative community and submitted for potential staffing on current and future Fox entertainment productions. To date, six of the 10 FWI finalists have been staffed on series for the 2013-14 season, including FOX's SLEEPY HOLLOW and RAISING HOPE, Showtime's "House of Lies" and ABC's "Killer Women" and "Influence."

This year's 10 FWI finalists were selected from more than 400 nominations and submissions by talent representation and arts organizations across the country, including National Hispanic Media Coalition, Sundance Institute, New York Foundation for the Arts, Outfest, Film Independent, NAACP, Women in Film Los Angeles, Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment and Visual Communications.

Fox Audience Strategy is a department within 21st Century Fox designed to identify programming and operational opportunities that reflect diverse perspectives across all of its entertainment platforms.
