THE AFFAIR (Showtime; W: Hagai Levi & Sarah Treem; D: Mark Mylod) - Maura Tierney ("The Good Wife") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, about Noah (Dominic West), a good husband, devoted father of four, and New York City high school teacher whose settled, comfortable world is about to implode when he meets a woman (Ruth Wilson) he thinks is his soul mate. She'll play Helen, "Noah's college sweetheart, best friend, mother of his children, lover and wife of 17 years." (Deadline.com)


COPLAND (Starz, New!) - Miramax Television is developing a small screen take on James Mangold's 1997 film of the same name, about "a suburban New Jersey sheriff who slowly discovers the town is a front for mob connections and corruption." Mangold and Brian Goluboff are co-writing the pilot with Kathy Conrad also serving as an executive producer. Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel and Ray Liotta toplined the original feature. (Deadline.com)


CRISTELA (ABC, New!) - Comedian Cristela Alonzo is set to star in a potential multi-camera comedy at the Alphabet about "an American Latina (Alonzo) straddling two cultures while not fully belonging to either." Kevin Hench will co-write the script alongside Alonzo for 20th Century Fox Television with Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy and Becky Clements of the studio-based 21 Laps/Adelstein Productions also serving as executive producers. FATRICK (FOX, New!) - Nahnatchka Khan and Corey Nickerson ("Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23") have scored a pilot production commitment from the network for a new single-camera comedy about Patrick, a thirtysomething who "looks like he has it all but we soon realize that he's not as far along in his life as he should be because he's being held back by the insecurities of growing up as Fatrick, a 10-year-old chubster just trying to survive." Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (The Way Way Back) are also on board to direct and executive produce the half-hour alongside the aforementioned duo and Kevin Walsh for 20th Century Fox Television. UNTITLED DAN KOPELMAN PROJECT (Nickelodeon, New!) - Dan Kopelman ("Rules of Engagement") has sold a new comedy to the cable channel loosely based on the life of actress Tia Mowry-Hardrict ("Instant Mom"). The untitled project revolves around "a 12-year-old girl who lives on an Army base with her drill sergeant mother." Mowry-Hardrict and Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan will executive produce alongside Kopelman. (Deadline.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - CBS has officially closed a deal to redevelop its Jim Gaffigan-led comedy pilot "Gaffigan" from this past cycle with a new supporting cast (Deadline.com); "Criminal Minds" executive producer Janine Sherman Barrois has inked a two-year overall deal with producer ABC Studios (Deadline.com); Dylan Bruce will appear in at least two episodes of "Arrow" as "Laurel's new co-worker Adam Donner, a corn-fed, All-American lawyer who is described as smart and charismatic" (TVLine.com); Joshua Bitton will recur on "Castle" as "a new detective who is trying to prove himself at the 12th Precinct" (TVLine.com); Alexandra Breckenridge is the latest actor bound for "American Horror Story: Coven" (@MrRPMurphy); Eliose Mumford has inked a talent holding deal with ABC and sibling ABC Studios (THR.com); and Janina Gavankar will visit "The Vampire Diaries" as "a beautiful, exotic and self-assured woman who comes to Mystic Falls to rekindle an old flame" (TVLine.com).
