CATHERINE THE GREAT (ABC, New!) - The Alphabet is developing a limited series based on Robert Massie's best-selling biography - subtitled "Portrait of a Woman" - about "the Russian empress' rise to become the world's richest and most powerful woman of her time." Michael Cristofer (The Witches of Eastwick) is penning the script and will executive produce alongside Debra Martin Chase via her ABC Studios-based Martin Chase Productions. The company's Charles Pugliese will serve as a producer. (THR.com)
HERE'S YOUR DAMN FAMILY (FOX/Warner Bros.; W: Ricky Blitt; D: TBA) - Ricky Blitt's comedy - about "a stunted, set-in-his-ways thirtysomething man living with his mom who finds his perfectly organized world upended when his mother/roommate gets married, and her new husband plus his three teenage children move in" - has received a cast-contingent pilot order from the network. Johnny Galecki and Stephen McPherson also serve as executive producers on the multi-camera project, which was set up in September. (Deadline.com)
LOSIN' IT (NBC, New!) - YouTube personality Shane Dawson has sold a single-camera comedy to the Peacock about "a suburban weight loss center franchise that gets thrown into upheaval when its most successful client decides to share his inspiration by becoming a consultant there, only to then find himself promoted to manager by the end of his first day." Dawson will co-write the semi-autobiographical project alongside his producing partner Lauren Schnipper and Darlene Hunt ("The Big C"). Will Gluck and Richie Schwartz will likewise executive produce via their Sony Pictures Television-based Olive Bridge Entertainment with Schnipper serving as a producer. (Deadline.com)
TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE (The CW, New!) - Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci ("Sleepy Hollow") are set to team with Joe Hill ("Locke & Key") for a potential revival of George A. Romero's 1980s anthology series which featured an individual short story that ended with a plot twist. The latter will pen the half-hour for consideration as a summer series. Hill, Kurtzman and Orci then will executive produce alongside Heather Kadin, Mitch Galin and Jerry Golod for the CBS Television Studios-based K/O Paper Products. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Melissa Rosenberg and Drew Goddard are reportedly on track to spearhead Netflix's Marvel series "Jessica Jones" and "Daredevil," respectively (Deadline.com); ABC has passed on a potential resurrection of "Body of Proof" (@DanaDelany); Stevie Nicks will drop by "American Horror Story: Coven" (@MrRPMurphy); Camryn Manheim and Saul Rubinek will both recur on "Person of Interest" as "a devoted wife whose husband, the brilliant Arthur (Rubinek), is slowly losing his mind" (TVLine.com); Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner are set to pen a small screen incarnation of the feature "Ghost" for Paramount Television (Deadline.com); Laura Prepon will return to "Orange Is the New Black" as Alex Vause in four episodes (Buzzfeed.com); and Jamie Lee Curtis, Rob Reiner, Angela Kinsey and Jessica Chaffin are all due back on "New Girl" while Ben Falcone will guest as "a condescending, passive-aggressive bartender" (THR.com).
