BRADDOCK & JACKSON (FX/Lionsgate; W: Bob Boyett & Robert Horn; D: TBA) - Rory O'Malley ("The Book of Mormon") is the latest to be cast in the upcoming comedy, about two Chicago lawyers - Pete Braddock (Kelsey Grammer) and Phillip Jackson (Martin Lawrence) - from vastly different backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court on the worst day of their lives. Brought together by fate and greed, they develop a partnership and friendship, forcing each other to find the balance between the ethical and the unscrupulous in both their professional and personal lives. He'll play "the irreverent office manager of Grammer and Lawrence's law firm." Daniele Watts, Edi Patterson, McKaley Miller and Telma Hopkins also star. (Deadline.com)


THE MCCARTHYS (CBS/Sony; W: Brian Gallivan; D: TBA) - Jimmy Dunn has been cast in the multi-camera comedy pilot, about a sports-crazed Irish-Catholic family that shares a three decker house in Boston and the one member, Ronny, that dares to move out on his own. He'll play "the dim and a little chubby Sean McCarthy, who lives in an attic room off of his brother Gerard's third-floor apartment." The actor originated the role in project's single-camera incarnation last season. Jack McGee, Joey McIntyre and Laurie Metcalf also star. (Deadline.com)


SONGBYRD (E!/UCP; W: Krista Vernoff; D: Andrew McCarthy) - Wes Brown ("Deception") has scored a role on the Bethany Joy Lenz-led drama pilot, about a young, prolific songwriter of some of the best love songs struggles to find love in her personal life after her inspiration is revealed to be a lie. He's set as Justin, her "sexy, soulful, love interest." Also starring are Robert Hoffman and Rumer Willis. (Deadline.com)


UNTITLED MATT HUBBARD PROJECT (FOX/Universal; W: Matt Hubbard; D: Pamela Fryman) - Jack Cutmore-Scott has been cast in the multi-camera comedy pilot, which is set at a women's college that begins accepting men for the first time in its history. He'll play Charlie Deckard, "a wealthy, Kennedy-esque young man who joins the women at Cabot College, much to the chagrin of Thena (Bonnie Dennison)." (Deadline.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Sony Pictures Television has formally picked up its freshman talk show "The Queen Latifah Show" for a second season with clearances on stations covering 97% of the country (Deadline.com); and "Last Resort" co-creator Shawn Ryan has inked a new three-year overall deal with the aforementioned studio, set to begin in June when the current one is up (Deadline.com).
