Lifetime Renews "Preachers' Daughters," Eyes "Flowers in the Attic" Sequel
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- "This year 70 percent of our schedule spanning five nights will be dedicated to unscripted," Executive President and General Manager Robert Sharenow told reporters at the top of Lifetime's session at the TCA Winter Press Tour. To that end the cable channel has renewed newcomer "Preachers' Daughters" for a second season while "Project Runway" will return for cycle 13 this summer.

On the scripted side, Sharenow detailed their four pilots currently in development: "H.R.," directed by Darren Star, is "a hilarious look at human resources in corporate America that stars Alicia Silverstone"; "Unreal," from executive producer Martin Noxon, "which kind of brilliantly weaves a behind-the-scenes look at a reality dating show with the producers making the show; "The Lottery," from the producers of "Prison Break" and screenwriter Timothy J. Sexton (Children of Men), "a dystopian thriller set in the future in which the world has become infertile; women have stopped having babies"; and two-hour backdoor pilot movie "Deliverance Creek," from executive producer Nicholas Sparks and starring Lauren Ambrose.

In addition, Lifetime has commissioned a script for a sequel to its upcoming V. C. Andrews adaptation "Flowers in the Attic," premiering Saturday, January 18 at 8:00/7:00c. Screenwriter Kayla Alpert confirmed said development of "Petals on the Wind" during the movie's panel. "I don't want to give away too much. It basically takes place about 10 years after the first movie ends, and I will just say that it is a very juicy, compelling, revenge drama."
