MICHAEL CHE TO JOIN COMEDY CENTRAL'S(R) "THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART" AS THE NEWEST CORRESPONDENT OF "THE BEST F*ING NEWS TEAM EVER!"
NEW YORK, April 28, 2014 - "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" has tapped comedian and writer Michael Che to become its newest correspondent, joining the roster of "The Best F*ing News Team Ever!" from the Emmy(R) and Peabody(R) Award-winning show in June.
Currently a writer on NBC's "Saturday Night Live," Michael Che (@CheThinks) has enjoyed a meteoric rise as a stand-up comedian. In 2013, Che was named by Rolling Stone as one of "The 50 Funniest People" and as one of Variety's "10 Comics to Watch." The year prior, he was crowned the winner of New York's Funniest Stand-Up competition at the New York Comedy Festival. The New York Times describes him as possessing "a reflective, laid-back stage presence with jokes that draw as much from his city upbringing... as from blunt, insightful points that bring the abstract into focus."
In February of 2014, Che became the first standup comedian to perform on NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (video). This marks his second late night appearance following his 2012 late night television debut on CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman." Other credits include Comedy Central's "@midnight" and "John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show" (video), VH1's "Best Week Ever," MTV's "Money from Strangers" and "Inside Joke" (video), and IFC's comedy game show "Bunk." He recently taped his first stand-up special, which is scheduled to air on Friday, June 6 on Comedy Central as part of the premiere block of the new season of "The Half Hour" stand-up series.
Che headlines comedy clubs and colleges nationally and internationally and has performed at The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, South Beach Comedy Festival, The Moontower Comedy Festival, Bonnaroo, The Montreal Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Che joins the talented roster of "The Best F*ing News Team Ever!" which includes Samantha Bee, Jordan Klepper, Jason Jones, Jessica Williams, Lewis Black, John Hodgman, Al Madrigal, Aasif Mandvi, Kristen Schaal and Larry Wilmore.
