NBC has renewed Tuesday night comedy "About a Boy" for a second season.
"About a Boy" stars David Walton, Minnie Driver, Benjamin Stockham, Al Madrigal, Leslie Bibb and Annie Mumolo.
Jason Katims, Tim Bevan ("Les Misérables," "About a Boy"), Eric Fellner ("Les Misérables," "About a Boy"), Liza Chasin ("Les Misérables," "About a Boy"), Robert De Niro ("About a Boy," "Meet the Parents") and Jane Rosenthal ("About a Boy," "Meet the Parents") serve as executive producers. "About a Boy" is a production of Universal Television, Working Title Films, True Jack Productions and Tribeca Productions.
In its first season, "About a Boy" is averaging a 2.4 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 8.3 million viewers overall in "most current" results from Nielsen Media Research. Facing comedy competition in the Tuesday 9-9:30 p.m. ET slot from Fox's "The New Girl" and ABC's "The Goldbergs," "About a Boy" is #1 in the half-hour among Big 4 comedies in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures (versus regular-slot original competition, "most current"). Versus NBC's year-ago results in the time period, "About a Boy" is up 20% in 18-49 (with a 2.4 rating vs. a 2.0, "most current," regular-slot originals).
