MTV TO AIR NEW SINGING COMPETITION SERIES "COPYCAT" PREMIERING ON MONDAY, JUNE 2 AT 6:30 P.M. ET/PT
Los Angeles, CA (May 12, 2014) - MTV takes the world of singing competitions to new heights this summer when new series, "Copycat" premieres on Monday, June 2 at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT. Hosted by Jonathan Bennett of "Mean Girls" fame, the series will showcase contestants who think they can sing just like their favorite music artists. Imitation is the highest form of flattery but will these contestants be able to do their idols justice?
In each episode of "Copycat" six contestants pay tribute to their celebrity icons in a "cat fight battle," where two fans who idolize the same artist are pitted against one another in a sing off in front of a live studio audience. The audience is not able to see the singers at first so the contestants must rely on their voices alone to impress them and win their votes. Some contestants may be able to fool the crowd into thinking they are the real thing while others will leave the audience running for the door. The two final performers will then undergo makeovers and transform them into their celebrity idols, for one last performance of the idols' songs in an effort to win $5,000!
