NBC has renewed medical drama "The Night Shift" for a second season.
The second-season order will be 14 episodes. No scheduling decisions have been made at this time.
In averages from Nielsen Media Research through June 29, "The Night Shift" is the #1 new scripted series on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox so far this summer in adults 18-49 and total viewers.
"The Night Shift" is tied for the #12 series among primetime shows on the Big 4 networks so far this summer in adults 18-49, with an average 1.7 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 ("most current"). In total viewers, "The Night Shift" is the #4 show of the summer on those networks with 7.9 million persons.
The series stars Eoin Macken, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Jill Flint, Robert Bailey Jr., Jeananne Goossen, JR Lemon, Daniella Alonso and Freddy Rodriguez.
"The Night Shift" is produced by Sony Pictures Television Inc. Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah ("Freaks and Geeks," "Diary of a Wimpy Kid") serve as executive producers and writers. Pierre Morel ("Taken") was executive producer and director on the pilot episode.
