Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Serve As FOX Sports' Artist of the Month
Los Angeles - FOX Sports' exclusive live coverage of Major League Baseball's 2014 All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 15 features music from Hypnotic Eye, the upcoming album from Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and multi-platinum artists Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Songs from the album are planned for use in the broadcast's opening tease, commercial bumpers and video montages, as well as numerous other programs across FOX Sports, FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2, FOX Deportes, FOX Sports Regional Networks and other platforms during All-Star Week and through the end of August.
FOX Sports has been home to 15 Major League Baseball All-Star Games since broadcasting its first in 1997. Game day coverage of MLB's 85th All-Star Game begins Tuesday, July 15th at 4:30 PM ET on FOX Sports 1 with a special three-hour edition of AMERICA'S PREGAME before moving to the broadcast network at 7:30 PM ET. Pregame festivities on FOX are anchored for the first time by Kevin Burkhardt with analysis from Hall of Famer and five-time All-Star Frank Thomas and World Series Champion Gabe Kapler.
Joe Buck, a seven-time Emmy Award winner, provides play-by-play for a record 16th All-Star Game, alongside analysts Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci, both calling their first. MLB on FOX insider and FOXSports.com senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal and broadcaster Erin Andrews offer reports from the field.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers have sold tens of millions of records worldwide throughout their legendary career and release Hypnotic Eye through Reprise Records on July 29. The album was recently reviewed by Rolling Stone magazine as "maximum rock & roll" and "a decisive return to the concise Sixties-rock classicism of his first great New Wave era albums." The band launches a tour throughout North America August 3 in San Diego.
The FOX Sports' Artist of the Month initiative debuted last August in conjunction with the launch of FOX Sports 1 and has featured top artists such as Green Day, Jack White, The Who, Pearl Jam, Switchfoot, Diamond Lane, The Black Keys and Bruce Springsteen.
