Head to the Beach with "SHARK WEEK" for the First-Ever FinFest

(Silver Spring, MD) This summer, Discovery Channel continues to push SHARK WEEK to new heights, keeping the record-setting momentum of 2013 while introducing consumers to a free, family-friendly event called FinFest. SHARK WEEK's FinFest is a two-day, two-night celebration on the shores of Hermosa Beach, California on August 9 and 10. The focus of this fin-tastic event is to further excite, entertain, educate and interact with fans around SHARK WEEK with a unique, one-of-a-kind experience to act as the kickoff to SHARK WEEK 2014.
The weekend at Hermosa Beach will be fun for all ages and will combine shark-themed activities with live bands performing in a shark mouth-shaped stage to give fans a variety of ways to soak up the fun. Live bands scheduled to perform throughout the weekend include John Butler Trio, Common Sense, Matt Costa Band, The Groove Trotters and North Mississippi Allstars. Activities will include a 60-foot mechanical shark, lovingly referred to as 'Sharkzilla', who will be chomping items every hour. There will also be partner activations along Pier Ave and an exclusive area for VIP guests to get an aerial view of all the action.
And it won't be just locals who can get in on the fun. Discovery will be streaming FinFest on their SharkWeek.com fan site so that Fin-atics around the country will be able to watch the musical performances and activities LIVE throughout the weekend. There will also be live cut-ins throughout the weekend on-air to help build buzz and excitement in advance of the Sunday 8PM premiere.
The weekend will wrap with an exclusive screening of a brand-new, highly anticipated special, in Hermosa Beach, quite possibly the best place to catch the first night of SHARK WEEK!
