Garcelle Beauvais, Terri J. Vaughn, Malinda Williams and Essence Atkins Star in a Film About the Value of Friendship During Life's Many Adventures

Silver Spring, MD - July 23, 2014 - Just in time for summer's end, TV One presents the network premiere of the two-hour original movie, Girlfriends' Getaway on Saturday, August 30 at 8PM/ET with an encore at 11PM/ET and at 11AM/ET on Sunday, August 31st. Shot entirely on location in Trinidad, the comedy tells the story of an innocent birthday getaway taken by four longtime friends that turns into a life changing adventure. Garcelle Beauvais (The Jamie Foxx Show) stars as Vicki Holmes with co-stars Terri J. Vaughn (Meet The Browns) as Sophie, Malinda Williams (Soul Food) as Camille and Essence Atkins (A Haunted House 2) playing Lauren.

Vicky Holmes (Beauvais), a sophisticated, successful business owner is outwardly hitting a stride in love and life. However, just days before a romantic birthday trip, she is blindsided by her boyfriend's decision to relocate and end their relationship. Vicky ultimately decides to bring her best girlfriends - who are all facing turning points in their lives - with her for a grown girls getaway in Trinidad. After their first wild night, an innocent mistake sets blaze to a chain of events that would forever change each of their lives. When the very pregnant Sophie (Vaughn) is kidnapped and held for $10,000 ransom, the remaining girls have 24-hours to ban together in order to get Sophie back safely or end up in jail.

Girlfriends' Getaway is directed by former Tyler Perry Studios EVP, Roger M. Bobb (Raising Izzie, For Colored Girls, The Rickey Smiley Show). Bobb serves as the film's Executive Producer with Angi Bones serving as Producer. The film was written by Cas Sigers-Beedles and is a co-production between Bobbcat Films and Siger's and Vaughn's Nina Holiday Entertainment.

Garcelle Beauvais (Vicky)

Garcelle Beauvais has been cast to star in the upcoming indie film, Loose, playing Lisa, an alcoholic single mother lost in her youth trying to live a caviar life on a spam budget at the expense of her daughter. Most recently, Garcelle can be seen in the film, White House Down, where she stars alongside Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum as the First Lady of the United States. She was the lead in the indie drama And Then There Was You as well as the feature film, Flight (directed by Robert Zemeckis), as Denzel Washington's wife. On August 19, 2014, Garcelle will release the second in a series of children's books titled I Am Living in Two Homes, which addresses the difficulty of having parents who are no longer together as they discover the benefits of having two very different homes to explore and enjoy.

Terri J. Vaughn (Sophie)

Terri stole America's heart with her lovable portrayal of Lovita Alizay Jenkins on The Steve Harvey Show. After that, she made her way to the Will Smith executive produced, All of Us, as school teacher Jonell, and was also seen as Renee, a sexy, sassy and hilarious nurse, to life on Tyler Perry's Meet The Browns. Between Sisters, which recently aired as the highest rated show on GMC Network, and Sugar Mommas, which was nominated for a 2013 NAACP Image Award, are just a couple of the projects Terri created.

Malinda Williams (Camille)

Malinda, a NAACP Image Award nominated actress, currently serves as a co-host of Exhale, a talk series on Aspire. Previously, she appeared in films such as The Wood, (MTV/Paramount), High School High (Tri-Star) and An Uninvited Guest, which won best of show at the Acapulco Black Film Festival and the audience award at the Urban World Festival in New York. Malinda also starred in Dancing in September, Sunset Park and A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. Some of her guest-starring television credits include Law and Order: SVU and NYPD BLUE.

Essence Atkins (Lauren)

Essence starred as Suzanne Kingston-Persons alongside Terry Crews on the TBS hit series Are We There Yet. As Dee Dee Thorne, Essence portrayed a privileged honor-roll law school graduate who grew up in a two-parent home searching for her own identity by getting to know her half-sister in UPN's comedy series Half & Half. Essence is best known for her role as Yvette Henderson in the syndicated and beloved Disney Series The Smart Guy. She was a series regular in several television shows, including Aaron Spelling's Malibu Shores and the critically acclaimed CBS drama Under One Roof.
