Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, Allison Janney
NEW YORK - August 16, 2014 - SHOWTIME was honored with four Primetime Emmy Awards at the Creative Arts Emmy Award Ceremony this evening, including top honors for documentary series YEARS OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY and for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Allison Janney for her role in the freshman drama series MASTERS OF SEX. Overall, SHOWTIME was honored with a total of 24 Emmy nominations across nine series and docu-series, with a total of 11 actor nominations. Eight out of the nine eligible SHOWTIME series were nominated this year across multiple categories - which equates to a 90 percent nomination rate for the network's series.
The groundbreaking SHOWTIME documentary event series YEARS OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY received top honors in a tied win for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. The critically-acclaimed drama series MASTERS OF SEX received its first Emmy win this evening in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category for Allison Janney. This marks her first win in this category and fifth Emmy. NURSE JACKIE's Jan McLaughlin and Peter Waggoner were honored with their second consecutive win for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation. Additionally, the hit comedy series HOUSE OF LIES garnered its first Emmy win tonight for Outstanding Art Direction for a Contemporary Program (Half Hour or Less) for Ray Yamagata, Chikako Suzuki, and Tim Stepeck. This is the first time SHOWTIME has won in this category.
