TBS to Present First Season of CBS's "Mom"

Four-Week Run of Comedy from Executive Producer Chuck Lorre Begins Monday, Aug. 25, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT), Following The Big Bang Theory

Season Two of Mom Launches Monday, Sept. 29, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on CBS

Mom, the award-winning CBS comedy starring Anna Faris and Emmy(R) winner Allison Janney, is coming to TBS for a special four-week run designed to build excitement for the show's second season. TBS will air season one of Mom weeknights at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT), from Aug. 25 through Sept. 19, immediately following episodes of The Big Bang Theory. CBS is set to launch the show's second season on Monday, Sept. 29, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Mom is the latest comedy from executive producer Chuck Lorre, whose wildly popular series The Big Bang Theory is gearing up for its eighth season on CBS. In addition to being the highest-rated entertainment series on broadcast television, The Big Bang Theory has topped the basic cable comedy charts since joining TBS's slate of contemporary comedies in 2011. TBS will air the two shows together in the 7 p.m. (ET/PT) hour during the network's special run of Mom's first season, and the two will be paired in the Monday 8 p.m. (ET/PT) hour on CBS when Mom returns on Sept. 29.

"I'm very excited that TBS has agreed to run the first season of Mom every weekday evening following The Big Bang Theory," said Lorre. "It's my hope that this incredible platform will allow people who might not have seen the show on CBS a chance to get acquainted with it. And perhaps that acquaintance can turn into an ongoing relationship. Unlike other shows I've worked on, Mom has a certain darkness about it. But just like with Two and a Half Men, Mike & Molly and The Big Bang Theory, the goal is always laughter."

Mom stars Anna Faris as Christy, a single mom and Napa Valley waitress valiantly trying to overcome a lifetime of questionable choices. Now a year clean and sober, she's tested daily by her newly sober mom, Bonnie, played by Allison Janney. Complicating things further is Christy's stubborn teenage daughter, Violet (Sadie Calvano); her overly honest son, Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal); her slacker ex-husband, Baxter (Matt Jones); Violet's clueless boyfriend, Luke (Spencer Daniels); Christy's married boss and former fling, Gabriel (Nate Corddry); the restaurant's lascivious chef, Rudy (French Stewart); Bonnie's frenemy, Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), and down-on-her-luck friend, Regina (Academy Award(R) winner Octavia Spencer); and Christy's long-estranged father, Alvin (Kevin Pollak). Christy tries to remain positive as she pursues a better life, but with her dysfunctional family and dubious support system, it's always an uphill battle.

Mom earned several accolades for its first season, including a Prism Award nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series Episode and a People's Choice Award nomination for Favorite New TV Comedy. The show was also selected as an honoree for the 2014 Television Academy Honors. Janney, who is nominated for this year's Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, was named Best Supporting Actress by the Critics Choice Television Awards. She also won the 2014 Prism Award for Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series. Other nominations for the show include a Prism Award nomination for Anna Faris for Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series and a Critics Choice Television Award nomination for Mimi Kennedy as Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series.

Mom was created by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker, with Lorre, Gorodetsky and Nick Bakay serving as executive producers. The series is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television.
