NBC SPORTS TEAMS WITH TODAY TO PRESENT WEEKLY "TOGETHER WE MAKE FOOTBALL" SEGMENTS THROUGHOUT THE NFL SEASON
NFL Campaign Recognizes Fans Who Love the Game
NBC Sports Group's Josh Elliott to Report Segment Fridays from Site of Sunday Night Football Game
Fans Can Submit Stories Online to Win Trip to Super Bowl XLIX in Arizona
STAMFORD, Conn. - September 4, 2014 - NBC Sports will team with TODAY to present weekly "Together We Make Football" segments, telling the most compelling stories of football fans, players, teams and families across the country, it was announced today.
The segments will air on TODAY each Friday during the upcoming NFL season and will feature a profile vignette produced by NFL Films and narrated by NBC Sports Group's Josh Elliott. Elliott will also report the TODAY segments from the Sunday Night Football city every Friday in the season's first 11 weeks, beginning tomorrow, Friday, September 5 in Denver, leading into the opening SNF game on September 7 as the Broncos host the Indianapolis Colts.
Tomorrow's debut "Together We Make Football" segment highlights the Longmont (Colo.) High School Football program's commitment to serving the community. Every year, Longmont Coach Doug Johnson leads his team on a day of service before the start of the season. Preparation for the day of outreach begins with a spring fundraiser to raise money for the community project. According to Coach Johnson, this day of service counts annually as the team's first win, so the Trojans will always open the season 1-0.
The National Football League's "Together We Make Football" campaign invites anyone who has been touched by the game of football - whether as a player at any level, a fan, a group, a team or a community - to share a story of why they love the game. Select "Together We Make Football" stories will be featured on NBC's Football Night in America studio show.
Those wishing to submit a story can visit TogetherWeMakeFootball.com, a digital community where fans can share their story and see thousands of others. On the site, fans can submit their story as an "individual" or a "group" using video, photos, words, or some combination of the three. Stories submitted through Sunday, October 19 will be entered into a contest where one "individual" submission and one "group" submission will win a trip to Super Bowl XLIX in Arizona. At the end of the season, NFL Films will produce a "Together We Make Football" special which will air on NBC on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1, 2015.
The campaign is the continuation of the NFL's "Together We Make Football - Your Story" campaign that launched in 2013. Last year, thousands of fans told their football stories and five individual winners of the contest received trips to Super Bowl XLVIII in New York/New Jersey.
