TBS Greenlights "The Smiths," Starring NBA Legend Kenny Smith and Family
TBS has given the greenlight to The Smiths, a new unscripted series centering on NBA legend Kenny Smith and his wife, Gwendolyn Osborne-Smith, along with their five extraordinary kids. Set to shoot in Los Angeles and Atlanta, The Smiths is being produced by Good Clean Fun, with Jason Carbone (The Bachelor, Tia and Tamera, Run's House), Nick Lee (The Bachelor, High School Reunion, Run's House), Jeff Altrock (The T.O. Show, Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family) and Kenny Smith serving as executive producers. TBS has ordered six episodes of The Smiths, with plans to launch the series in spring 2015.
The family at the center of The Smiths is headed by Kenny and Gwen, who probably never would have guessed when they got married that their conflicting parenting styles, whirlwind schedules and family chemistry would turn their quiet home into an absolute mad house - albeit a loving one.
With five kids ranging in age from age 2 to 20, a successful wife and an accomplished career both on and off the basketball court, Kenny has just about everything he needs to be considered the Coolest Dad on Earth - everything that is except the ability to impress his own kids. After all, he and Gwen are raising a family of all-stars. The older kids - Kayla, Monique and KJ - are excelling and have careers in music, sports and entertainment, and little Malloy and London prove daily that they are hot on the heels of their siblings.
Each week, Kenny and Gwen must manage a household that has many moving parts in order to accomplish their ultimate goal: keeping their large family of big personalities happy, healthy and going strong - together.
