SUNDANCE TV RECEIVES SAG AWARD(R) NOMINATION FOR
LIMITED SERIES 'THE HONORABLE WOMAN'
Academy Award(R) Nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal Garners First SAG Award Nomination
New York, NY, December 10, 2014 - SundanceTV received a SAG Award nomination today for its miniseries "The Honorable Woman." Academy Award nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal (Crazy Heart, The Dark Knight) received her first SAG Award nomination in the category of "Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries." The 21st annual SAG Awards will be held on Sunday evening, January 25, 2015 in Los Angeles.
"Making 'The Honorable Woman' was one of the most inspiring and exciting experiences of my career so far, and I'm thrilled to be nominated for my performance in it," said Maggie Gyllenhaal. "Hugo and the cast were beyond amazing, and I'm so grateful that SundanceTV and the BBC took a chance on this show. Also, it's pretty awesome that my brother and I are going to be there together!"
"Maggie's creative genius and uncompromising spirit is something we seek out and - pun intended - honor at SundanceTV," said Sarah Barnett, SundanceTV President and General Manager. "We are so pleased that her incredible work in 'The Honorable Woman' has been recognized by the Screen Actors Guild."
The announcement marks six total nominations in SundanceTV's history. This was a banner year for SundanceTV, with the Los Angeles Times classifying its programming as "artisanal television." The network expanded its original programming slate with its second wholly owned scripted drama, "The Red Road," and the second season of the critically acclaimed and WGA-nominated "Rectify." The channel also further explored the limited series genre with "The Honorable Woman" and "One Child." Variety stated, "['One Child'] further establishes Sundance's credentials as a channel exploring an indie film sensibility while looking to the culture clashes that occur beyond US borders in pursuit of compelling stories."
