TBS and Twitch Team Up for "King of the Nerds" Preview Event
Hosts Curtis Armstrong & Robert Carradine To Chat Live
During Twitch's First-Ever Live Television Viewing Event
Season 3 of King of the Nerds Launches Friday, Jan. 23, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on TBS
As nerds everywhere eagerly await the return of the ultimate geeky competition series King of the Nerds, TBS and Twitch are teaming up for a special sneak preview event to be held at Twitch's San Francisco headquarters on Friday, Jan. 16. King of the Nerds hosts and executive producers Curtis Armstrong and Robert Carradine will be on-hand for the event, which will feature a sneak peek screening of the first episode of season 3 and a chat session with the hosts to take place live on Twitch. Top Twitch influencers Marcus "djWHEAT" Graham and Jon Carnage are set to moderate the event, which will mark Twitch's first-ever live television viewing party. Fans will be able to watch the fun live on Twitch.tv/twitch on Friday Jan. 16, at 6:00 p.m. PT.
Each year, TBS's King of the Nerds welcomes 12 competitors from across the nerd spectrum who come together to vie for the ultimate nerd title. But first they must face a series of elimination challenges that test their intellect, ingenuity, skills and pop-culture prowess. In the end, only one competitor will be named the quintessential master of all things nerdy, winning the $100,000 prize.
Season 3 of King of the Nerds is set to launch on Friday, Jan. 23, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on TBS, with each episode available via TBS's VOD, digital and mobile platforms the following day. Among the challenges this season will be "Cosplay," "Nerd Anthem" and "Nerdy Game Night." King of the Nerds also features several guest appearances, with season 3 set to welcome such nerd favorites as Danica McKellar, Michael McMillian, Yaya Han, Billy Boyd, Moby, Lisa Loeb, Travie McCoy, Penn Jillette and Rachelle Lefevre.
King of the Nerds originally premiered in 2013. In its second season, the show reached an average of 4 million viewers across TBS's various platforms. King of the Nerds is executive-produced by Ben Silverman, Chris Grant and Corie Henson of Electus and Craig Armstrong, Rick Ringbakk, Charles Wachter and Anthony Carbone of 5X5 Media, as well as Carradine and Armstrong.
