ALL STARS (ABC/20th; W: Judah Miller; D: TBA) - Comedian Tony Rock has joined the cast of the single-camera comedy pilot, about a Tony Award-winning mother, Irene (Megan Hilty), and Gary (yet to be cast), a cerebral, risk-averse father blessed with a natural-born athlete for a son. He'll play Ty, "Gary's brother-in-law who's married to his twin sister Susie. A foil to Gary, Ty is oblivious of how he unnerves his brother-in-law." Efren Ramirez also stars. (Deadline.com)


BOOM (ABC/ABCS; W: Josh Pate & Rodes Fishburne; D: Jonas Pate) - Actors Don Johnson and Delroy Lindo as well as director Jonas Pate have all signed onto the drama pilot, about a young couple who moves to a contemporary boomtown in North Dakota in pursuit of the American dream and are seduced by the sudden wealth of frontier life. Lindo will play Tip Hamilton, "the Sheriff of Williston County, a wise and sly man who has seen it all and is inclined to administer the law as impartially as possible - but with an attitude and edge"; while Johnson is set as Hap Boyd, "a tough, mega alpha male oil tycoon, an oilfield legend." Pate then will direct the project, which also stars India de Beaufort, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Scott Michael Foster. (Deadline.com)


CALIFORNIA (NBC, New!) - Gregory Nava and Barbara Martinez-Jitner are developing a potential limited series at the Peacock "tracking a fictional Latino family and their journey over 200 years in California from Spanish, to Mexican, to American rule." Said duo will co-write the Sony Pictures Television-based project which Nava is likewise attached to direct. Nuyorican Productions' Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas also serve as executive producers with Priscilla Porianda as a co-producer. (Deadline.com)


CHEERLEADER DEATH SQUAD (The CW/CBSP; W: Daniel Truly, Marc Cherry & Neal Baer; D: Mark Waters) - Alan Van Sprang ("Reign") and Abbie Cobb ("Suburgatory") have both been cast in the drama pilot, about a disgraced CIA agent-turned-teacher at an elite D.C. prep school who trains a select few students to be his eyes and ears into the world of international espionage and help him earn his way back into the agency. He'll play said fellow, Andrew Stone, with Cobb as one of his students, the sweet and naive Maddie. Aylin Bayramoglu and Gia Mantegna also star. (Deadline.com, March 7)


CURSE OF THE FUENTES WOMEN, THE (NBC/WBT; W: Silvio Horta; D: Jason Ensler) - Sonia Braga ("Royal Pains") has boarded the drama pilot, which revolves around a magical and mysterious young man (Adan Canto) who inexplicably emerges from the ocean, breathing new passion into the lives of the Fuentes women - the beautiful but lonely Lola (Christina Vidal), her ailing mother Esperanza (Rachel Ticotin) and her troubled daughter Soledad (Katie Sarife). She's set as Orquidia, "the estranged sister of Esperanza, who has been harboring an enormous grudge against her sister for decades." Daphne Rubin-Vega also stars. (Deadline.com)


GRINDER, THE (FOX/20th; W: Andrew Mogel & Jarrad Paul; D: Jake Kasdan) - Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Natalie Morales and William Devane are the latest additions to the comedy pilot, about beloved TV lawyer Dean Sanderson (Rob Lowe) who, when his long-running hit series comes to an end, finds himself at a crossroads in life and decides to move back to his small hometown thinking he has the experience to take over his family's law firm where he butts heads with his brother, Stewart (Fred Savage). Ellis will play Stewart's wife Debbie, "who dated Dean back in the day, and he still thinks of her as the one that got away"; while Morales is set as Claire, "a paralegal who works at Stewart's law firm. She has never seen an episode of Dean's TV show and is unimpressed with his celebrity"; and Devane as Dean Sr., "the sweet, old-fashioned father of Stewart and Dean and head of the family's law firm." JOE TIME (CBS/WBT; W: Bill Wrubel; D: James Burrows) - Steven Weber is set as the title role in the multi-camera comedy pilot, about Joe, a family man who struggles with the fact that everyone around him is pursuing their dreams and enjoying life more than he is. He'll play said fellow, who is "starting to wonder if he'll ever be able to follow his own desires, whatever that may be." Duane Martin and Eric Petersen also star. (Deadline.com)


MIX (ABC/WBT; W: Jennifer Cecil; D: Daniel Barnz) - Britne Oldford, Sam Page and Joaquim de Almeida have all been cast in the drama pilot, about the realities of modern-day families - multi-cultural and multi-generational, built through divorces, affairs and adoptions - set against the backdrop of a revered family restaurant at a crossroads. Oldford is set as Remy Wells, "who's trying to stay clean after recently being release prison on a drug charge, but is finding life on the outside tougher than she anticipated. An extremely talented chef, she might be just what her father needs to turn the restaurant around"; with Page as James, "a recovering addict who is described as a warm, charming and intelligent man. He is immediately intrigued when he meets Remy at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting"; and De Almeida as Ray Wells, "owner of the popular Austin restaurant." Camille Guaty and Walter Perez also star. SHOOTER (USA, New!) - John Hlavin's small screen take on Stephen Hunter's book-turned-feature - about a marksman, former U.S. Marine Scout Sniper Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg in the film), who is coaxed back into action only to be framed for murder and goes on the run - has booked a pilot commitment from the cable channel. Originally set up at TNT, the Paramount Television-based project has since added Universal Cable Productions as a co-producer. Hlavin, Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Lorenzo di Bonaventura are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - FOX has rolled its cast-contingent pilot order for a domestic take on "Luther" to off-cycle over difficulties casting the lead (Deadline.com); Chloe Sevigny, Ted Levine, Leven Rambin, Don Harvey and Nathan Keyes have all joined the cast of the John Hawkes-led independently produced medical drama pilot "Dr. Del" (Deadline.com); Malina Weissman has been cast as young Kara Zor-El on "Supergirl" at CBS (THR.com); and Maggie Grace has bowed out of fellow Eye drama pilot "Code Black" due to "creative reasons" (TVLine.com).
