NEW YORK, April 30, 2015 - FYI has greenlit 14 half-hour episodes of the new series, "Food Porn," it was announced today as part of A+E Networks' Upfront presentation by Jana Bennett, President of FYI and LMN. Michael Chernow, New York restaurateur and co-owner of The Meatball Shop, will host the series. Bethenny Frankel, TV personality, author and entrepreneur, will serve as an executive producer. Production begins immediately.
The cultural phenomenon of food porn has taken America by storm. There are currently more than 50 million posts on Instagram with the hashtag #foodporn, and the phrase is tagged nearly every two seconds on Twitter.
"People are obsessed with photographing, sharing and discussing the food they eat on social media," said Bennett. "FYI will be capturing this convergence of mouth-watering food and social trends in a unique and entertaining format."
In "Food Porn," Michael will take on the insanely popular hashtag in search of the most buzzed about food in America. Viewers will follow Michael as he travels across the US to meet today's tastemakers - the everyday people behind the delicious online posts - and discover what made the meal so distinctive and worthy to share online. The series will also go beyond just the photo, as Michael will meet with the chefs and restaurants responsible for creating the dishes to find out what's in them and why they are insanely popular.
"I am excited to be a part of a series that will showcase the decadence and obsession people have with sharing their food online," said Bethenny Frankel, executive producer, "Food Porn."
"Food Porn" is produced by Loud TV for FYI. Executive producers for Loud TV are Nick Rigg, David George, Jordana Hochman, and Brent Montgomery, also serving as executive producer is Bethenny Frankel. Executive producers for FYI are Gena McCarthy and James Bolosh.
