HGTV RENEWS EMMY-NOMINATED "FLEA MARKET FLIP" STARRING GOOD MORNING AMERICA CO-HOST LARA SPENCER
New York [For Immediate Release - June 17, 2015] HGTV has ordered a seventh season of its Emmy-nominated competition series Flea Market Flip. Starring Lara Spencer, Good Morning America co-host and two-time New York Times bestselling author, the series pits two teams of avid flea market patrons against each other to find, fix-up and flip projects to win a $5,000 cash prize. Spencer, who serves as host, creator and executive producer, is a designer and longtime flea market enthusiast and will continue to lead the action in 14 new half-hour episodes. In 2Q15 to date, more than 13.8 million viewers tuned in to Flea Market Flip on HGTV. It continues to be a Top 5 program on the network among upscale W25-54 in daytime (M-Su 7A-8P).
"Flea Market Flip is a series that consistently delivers a solid audience for us," said Allison Page, general manager, HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country. "A huge part of its success is Lara's appeal and her impressive knowledge and expertise in this space."
In Flea Market Flip, each team has only one-hour to shop and a $500 budget. They must scour a flea market to find their potential treasures. After searching, haggling and brainstorming on the fly, the teams transform the drab and sometimes weird finds into top-notch designs that they can sell the following day at a different flea market. The competitors must attract customers, negotiate and at times, put on a show, to sell their wares. The team who makes the most profit walks away with bragging rights and the cash prize.
