SNOWFALL (FX/FXP; W: Eric Amadio & John Singleton; D: John Singleton) - British newcomer Damson Idris is the latest to be cast in the pilot, a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it. The story follows three characters on a violent collision course: Franklin Saint, young street entrepreneur on a quest for power; Gustavo Zapata, a Mexican wrestler turned gangster in search of his American dream; and Logan Miller (Billy Magnussen), a prominent family's "black sheep" desperate to escape his father's shadow. He'll play the former character, Franklin Saint. (Deadline.com)

URBAN COWBOY (FOX/20th/Paramount; W/D: Craig Brewer) - The network's small screen take on the 1980 Debra Winger/John Travolta-led feature - which follows star-crossed young lovers Sissy and Bud as they pursue their dreams and passions through the dust of the rodeo, the grime of the oil refineries, the sweat of line-dancing in honky tonks and the glamour of modern Texas - has been ordered to pilot. Said effort will feature new characters, Kyle and Gaby. Robert Evans, Sue Naegle and showrunner Chris Levinson also executive produce. (Deadline.com)

WAY, THE (Hulu/Universal; W: Jessica Goldberg; D: Mike Cahill) - Newcomer Kyle Allen is the latest to land a role on the upcoming drama, which examines a family at the center of a controversial faith-based movement struggling with relationships, marriage and power. He'll play Hawk Cleary, "Eddie (Aaron Paul) and Sarah's (Michelle Monaghan) son, and a lifelong follower of The Way, a small religious sect that gains attention in a rural area after a tornado levels the town." Rockmund Dunbar also stars. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Rachael Holmes will recur on Amazon's "Mad Dogs" as "a friendly employee in a local pharmacy, who it turns out, is a force to be reckoned with" (Deadline.com); Spencer MacPherson is likewise bound for "Reign" as "a boy on the edge of puberty who has begun to realize that he may be the next King of France sooner than he'd imagined" (Deadline.com); Ralph Brown and Klara Issova are the latest series regulars set for "Legends" as Terrence Graves and Ilyana Crawford, respectively (Deadline.com);

Zoe Lister-Jones has been cast as Harriet Grant on HBO's "Confirmation" where she'll take over for Cobie Smulders, who "had to pull out because of a broken leg" (Deadline.com); KISS lead singer Gene Simmons will cameo in the second season opener of "Scorpion" (Deadline.com); and a new T.D. Jakes-hosted one-hour daily daytime talk show from Debmar-Mercury, Tegna Media, 44 Blue Productions, TDJ Enterprises and EnLight Productions as well as showrunners Gail Steinberg and Jack Mori will test for four weeks (August 17 - September 11) in Dallas, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Cleveland (THR.com).
