ANIMAL KINGDOM (TNT/WHT; W: Jonathan Lisco; D: John Wells) - Finn Cole and Jake Weary are the latest to be cast in the drama pilot, about 17-year-old Josh, who moves in with his wild, free-wheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town and is pulled into their life of indulgence and excess. Cole will play said role with Weary as Deran Cody, "Smurf's (Ellen Barkin) youngest son, the troubled, suspicious "baby" of the family." Scott Speedman also stars. (Deadline.com)
SIDE BY SIDE (CBS, New!) - Donick Cary ("Parks and Recreation") is looking to import Terje Solli's Norwegian series, about "a young couple that buys their dream home and gets caught between two feuding families." CBS Television Studios is behind the project, with Jimmy Fox, Layla Smith and Eli Holzman of Objective Productions/All 3 Media as well as Christina Rezk Resar, Sigmund Falch and Marit Åslein also among the executive producers. YOUNG POPE, THE (HBO; W/D: Paolo Sorrentino) - James Cromwell, Silvio Orlando, Scott Shepherd, Cécile de France, Javier Cámara, Ludivine Sagnier and Toni Bertorelli will round out the cast of the upcoming Jude Law-led drama, which tells the controversial story of the beginning of PIUS XIII's Pontificate, formerly known as Lenny Belardo. Cromwell will play Cardinal Michael Spencer, "Lenny's mentor"; with Orlando as Secretary of State Cardinal Voiello; Shepherd as Cardinal Dussolier; de France as play Sofia, "who is in charge of marketing in Vatican City"; Cámara as Cardinal Gutierrez, Vatican City Master of Ceremonies; Sagnier as Esther, "the wife of a Swiss guard"; and Bertorelli as Cardinal Caltanissetta. Diane Keaton also stars as Sister Mary with Guy Boyd, Andre Gregory, Sebastian Roché, Marcello Romolo, Ignazio Oliva, Vladimir Bibic and Nadie Kammalaweera in unspecified roles. (Deadline.com)
