MIGHTY CAMILLA, THE (TV Land, New!) - Allison Kiessling's comedy, about an unlucky-in-love New York social worker who gets recruited by a handsome man from the future as the unlikely savior of humanity, has found a new home at TV Land. The project was previously set up at ABC in 2014. Melissa Rosenberg and Kate Schumaecker will also executive produce via their Tall Girls Productions for ABC Signature. Kristin Newman was previously attached as a showrunner during its incarnation at ABC. (Deadline.com)
PATRIOT, THE (Amazon; W/D: Steve Conrad) - Emmy-winner Terry O'Quinn ("Lost") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, which tells the story of the Allerton family, centering on undercover spy John Allerton (Michael Dorman), his father Tom Allerton - a State Department director of intelligence - and his congressman brother Edward Allerton. He'll play Tom Allerton, "a director of intelligence at the State Department and father of undercover spy John Allerton and congressman Edward Allerton." Kathleen Munroe and Kurtwood Smith and also star. (THR.com)
UTOPIA (HBO; W: Gillian Flynn; D: David Fincher) - The pay channel has tabled its proposed import of Dennis Kelly's U.K. series, about the die-hard fans of an iconic, underground graphic novel who are suddenly launched into their pop-culture thriller when they learn that the author has secretly written a sequel. Rooney Mara, Colm Feore, Eric McCormack, Dallas Roberts, Jason Ritter, Brandon Scott and Agyness Deyn reportedly had been cast in the project, which was not able "to reach a compromise on the size of the budget." UNTITLED DIEGO GUTIERREZ PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Diego Gutierrez ("From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series") has sold a new drama to the Alphabet about "the heirs to a wealthy Mexican conglomerate, who are in the throes of a battle for its future when they all become suspects in the murder of their father." Stearns Castle Entertainment's Michael McDonald and Ventanarosa's Salma Hayek and Jose Tamez are also on board to executive produce the project, which has a penalty attached, for ABC Studios. AND IN OTHER NEWS... - FXX remains committed to its comedy series project starring Tracy Morgan, which was tabled last year following a horrific car accident which claimed the life of Morgan's mentor and comedy writer James McNair (Deadline.com); ABC Studios has picked up the options on "Knoxville" co-stars David Koechner, Julie Ann Emery, Brad Carter and Lavell Crawford in anticipation of shooting a new pilot from a new writer (Deadline.com); Studio Lambert is pitching "The Great Emoji Challenge," "a primetime studio comedy game show in which contestants can win up to $1 million by decoding what emojis stand for" (Deadline.com); Peter Gallagher will recur on "The Good Wife" as Irving Carver, "the witty, sophisticated attorney of conservative billionaire Reese Dipple (Oliver Platt)" (Deadline.com);
Jeremy Maguire has been cast as the now slightly older Fulgencio "Joe" Pritchett on "Modern Family," succeeding Pierce Wallace (@SofiaVergara); Louis C.K. will once again take an "extended hiatus" before making a decision about a sixth season of "Louie" (Deadline.com); Antoine Fuqua and Jerry Bruckheimer are looking to bring their 2001 feature "Training Day" to the small screen, to be spearheaded by Will Beall (Deadline.com); Sheila Larken will reprise her role as Margaret Scully on FOX's revival of "The X-Files" (TVLine.com); and Pam Stone's Judy Watkins-Dybinski will likewise return for NBC's "Coach" update (TVLine.com).
