With more than two decades of experience as a homicide investigator and one of the highest closure rates in the country, Kenda's credibility, expertise and flair for storytelling encapsulate the heart of DETECTIVE. Each week, with his slow, intense, deliberate drawl and cool, no-nonsense demeanor, Lt. Kenda recounts the most disturbing cases still haunting him today, entrancing listeners with chilling and vivid details forever ingrained in his memory.
DETECTIVE launches today in advance of the fifth season of HOMICIDE HUNTER: LT. JOE KENDA, premiering next Tuesday, August 18 at 10/9c on Investigation Discovery. Future 20-minute installments of DETECTIVE will be released every other week over the course of 20 weeks on iTunes and CrimeFeed.com.
"People are consuming media on every platform, and the next evolution for ID is to take our signature storytelling style and merge it with an inimitable voice and talent like Kenda to create an audio-only drama," said Kevin Bennett, EVP and general manager of Investigation Discovery. "DETECTIVE gives our insatiable fans the ability to whet their appetite on the go, delivering the compelling and intense intricacies in the crime genre that only ID can."
Raw and unscripted, each episode of DETECTIVE features Kenda as he recounts the most harrowing cases and crucial moments from more than two decades of catching killers. In the premiere episode, Kenda recalls the sights, smells and sounds of his very first violent crimes call as clearly as if it was yesterday... and relays how he was forced to accept the reality of his career very quickly. Subsequent episodes this season will focus on various motives for murder, the personal toll of a being a homicide detective, the dangers of the job, and his 8% of cold cases that still haunt him to this day.
DETECTIVE joins ID's weekly CRIMEFEED PODCAST, hosted by ID experts Darren Kavinoky and Loni Coombs, covering crime and justice stories ripped straight from the headlines and available exclusively on iHeartRadio.
ABOUT HOMICIDE HUNTER: LT. JOE KENDA
Season 5 Premieres Tuesday, August 18 at 10/9c
A murder will change the life of a victim, their families, and the convicted killer... but what about the investigator? Lt.
