NEW YORK - August 11, 2015 - SHOWTIME Sports will chronicle the University of Notre Dame's quest for a college football national championship with weekly, all-access coverage in a groundbreaking new series titled A SEASON WITH NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL.
The season-long series premieres Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME, just three days after Notre Dame's opening-week showdown with the University of Texas Longhorns in South Bend, Indiana. Weekly 30-minute episodes will premiere at 10 p.m. each Tuesday night as the Fighting Irish battle for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
"We're honored and thrilled to be granted access to profile a college football program with a legacy as storied and as fascinating as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish," said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager of SHOWTIME Sports. "The passion of the players and head coach Brian Kelly will make for a compelling television series that will appeal beyond hardcore college football fans to all viewers who appreciate great storytelling."
Production for A SEASON WITH NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL has begun as cameras are entrenched on campus in South Bend with inside access to the team and coaching staff. Viewers will join Notre Dame's student-athletes in the locker room and the classroom as the series transports viewers beyond the field and into the lives of the student-athletes throughout the season.
Weekly episodes will feature the preparation for the previous Saturday's matchup, the intensity of the sidelines on game day and the rigors of balancing athletics with classwork during the grueling season. From preparing to play host to USC for the 86th edition of their rivalry to the Shamrock Series showdown with Boston College at historic Fenway Park, A SEASON WITH NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL grants viewers with exclusive access to a special season as head coach Brian Kelly and his Fighting Irish vie for gridiron glory.
Executive producers on A SEASON WITH NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL include Scott Stone of Stone & Company Entertainment, Steve Mayer of IMG, Tom Cappello of Crazy Legs Productions and Jason Sciavicco.
