FS1 TELEVISES WOMEN'S WORLD CUP CHAMPION USA IN ACTION DURING PEARL HARBOR TRIBUTE WEEKEND
Lloyd, Morgan, Solo & Company Take on Trinidad & Tobago,
Live from Aloha Stadium
Additional Weekend Details Unveiled; Visits with Wounded Warriors Planned
New York - In April, FOX Sports announced that it would salute the nation's military of yesterday and today by making Pearl Harbor its home base Dec. 4-7 as U.S. military installations there solemnly remember the lives lost during the attack on the Hawaiian Islands on Dec. 7, 1941, which launched America into World War II. New to the events and activities previously announced, FS1 televises an international soccer friendly featuring the reigning FIFA Women's World Cup Champion United States Women's National Team versus Trinidad & Tobago, live on Sunday, Dec. 6 (8:00 PM ET) from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.
Using sports as a backdrop throughout the weekend, FOX Sports is honored to pay tribute to the nation's military while reminding Americans about the world-altering events that occurred there almost 75 years ago on "a date which will live in infamy."
FOX Sports' weekend in Pearl Harbor is part of "FOX Salutes the Military," made possible by presenting sponsor Budweiser and associate sponsors USAA, Ford Motor Company and the 20th Century Fox film The Revenant.
"FOX Sports is really looking forward to honoring our men and women in uniform, especially those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, during our visit to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam," said FOX Sports, President and COO Eric Shanks. "We thank the sponsors who are helping to make this possible, and we appreciate the military's tremendous cooperation and hope they welcome us back to Pearl Harbor next year to pay solemn tribute on the 75th Anniversary."
Weekend highlights include:
· MLB CLINICS - On Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday Dec. 5, FOX MLB lead game analyst Harold Reynolds teams with baseball superstars Shane Victorino, Hawaiian native, and Mitch Harris to conduct clinics and visit wounded warriors.
· FORD PIER SET - On Saturday, Dec. 5, FS1 uses a specially-built set on Ford Pier adjacent to the USS Missouri, with the poignant USS Arizona Memorial as a backdrop, as home base anchored by Jenny Taft. The USS Arizona was among the first ships bombed on Dec. 7, 1941, losing 1,177 crew members in the greatest loss of life on any U.S. warship in history, but it was aboard the decorated USS Missouri that Gen. Douglas MacArthur accepted the Empire of Japan's unconditional surrender on Sept. 2, 1945 in Tokyo Bay. Event programming that day includes:
· An old college basketball rivalry renewed as Georgetown hosts Syracuse at the Verizon Center on FOX broadcast network (coverage begins 12:30 PM ET)
· Big 12 football on FS1 (coverage begins 4:00 PM ET)
· Big Ten Football Championship Game live from Indianapolis (coverage begins 7:00 PM ET)
· FOX NFL SUNDAY - On Sunday, Dec. 6, in what is sure to be its most memorable broadcast ever, FOX NFL SUNDAY presents a special two-hour edition (11:00 AM-1:00 PM ET) live from the Ford Pier as the sun rises over Pearl Harbor. (see set rendering)
· Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan and Jay Glazer, in the most reverent of settings, prepare football fans for the day's action while offering a unique look at the surprise 1941 attack, both battleships, and their unique place in U.S. history.
· Bradshaw & company visit wounded warriors on Friday.
· FOX has a solid NFL doubleheader scheduled on Sunday, Dec. 6, highlighted by early regional game coverage that includes the San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears; the two-time defending NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks on the road against the Minnesota Vikings; and Carolina Panthers visiting the New Orleans Saints. In the national game nightcap, the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots host the Philadelphia Eagles in AMERICA'S GAME OF THE WEEK.
· USA VS. TRINIDAD & TOBAGO - FS1 features the USWNT taking on Trinidad & Tobago in a friendly from Aloha Stadium, Sunday, Dec. 6 (8:00 PM ET). The voices of the USWNT's memorable Women's World Cup victory, JP Dellacamera, Tony DiCicco and Cat Whitehill call the game with Taft reporting from the sidelines.
· Coverage includes a feature on USWNT player Whitney Engen's grandfather who enlisted in the Navy shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor and went on to a distinguished combat career.

· FS1 PEARL HARBOR INVITATIONAL - Following a morning ceremony on Monday, Dec. 7 marking the 74th anniversary of the 1941 attack, FS1 coverage from Pearl Harbor culminates with its presentation of a college basketball doubleheader played in Bloch Arena, located on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, a building which withstood the 1941 bombing. FOX Sports lead college basketball broadcasters Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery call both ends.
· FS1 COLLEGE HOOPS TIP-OFF (6:30 PM ET)

· FEATURED VIGNETTES - FOX Sports is producing several original vignettes related to the history that is forever linked to Pearl Harbor since Dec. 7, 1941, which air throughout the weekend's programming. Features include:
· Survivors - Three survivors of the Imperial Japanese attack who call Oahu home offer their detailed recollections of what they witnessed first-hand that fateful day, and are expected on the FOX NFL SUNDAY set on Dec. 6.
· Bloch Arena - The building hosting Monday's college basketball doubleheader, once dormant, was refurbished to working order by FOX Sports. The story of how this arena held a battle of bands on the night of Dec. 6, 1941, and how the arena served as a venue for acts like Elvis Presley and others who performed there with proceeds going toward rebuilding Pearl Harbor, is told.
· Furlong Field - Like Bloch Arena, Furlong Field held events in the years following the attack with proceeds earmarked for rebuilding the base. MLB All-Stars like Joe DiMaggio, Pee Wee Reese and others joined Army and Navy teams playing there, while the field also hosted college football all-star games.
· How it Happened - A timeline of Dec. 7, 1941 as told by survivors and historians.
· Pearl Harbor Now - The story of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam today, as headquarters for the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet, is told by senior naval officers and naval historians.
· NFL on Dec. 7, 1941 - A historian takes viewers inside NFL stadiums as games were being played as the attack unfolded, and the impact on the league afterward.
· Forgotten Battleships - Like the USS Arizona, the Battleships USS Utah and USS Oklahoma sustained heavy damage and casualties during the attack, yet their memorials, also at Pearl Harbor, are widely unknown.
