BEAUTIFUL BUREAUCRAT, THE (The CW, New!) - Alexandra McNally ("Under the Dome") is looking to bring Helen Phillips's recently published novel to the small screen. Said effort revolves around "when a young woman gets a data entry job at a mysterious corporation, she discovers that the information she is logging is building a database that has the power to affect fate - including her own." Neal Baer will also executive produce via his CBS Television Studios-based Baer Bones Productions. (Deadline.com)
CRY (The CW, New!) - Kerry Lenhart and John J. Sakmar ("The Glades") are developing a new drama at the netlet which "tells the story of a doctor who makes the astonishing medical breakthrough to bring cryogenically preserved people back to life, starting with the unfreezing of his own father - but he never expects that restoring life will have both glorious and devastating consequences." Chris Donahue and Marybeth Sprows of Paulist Productions also serve as executive producers for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
DOWNWARD DOG (ABC/ABCS; W: Samm Hodges & Michael Killen; D: TBA) - Lucas Neff ("Raising Hope") and comedian Barry Rothbart are set to star opposite Allison Tolman in the comedy pilot, about "a disorganized, unapologetic woman, Nan (Tolman), and her dog, Martin, voiced by Samm Hodges." Neff will play Jason, "Nan's ex-boyfriend, who is something of a prototypical aging millennial man-child. A musician and bartender, Jason is trying to get back into Nan's life, and Martin's destructive behavior provides the perfect opportunity." Rothbart then is set as Kevin. Said effort is based on the web series produced by Animal Media Group with Jimmy Miller, Sam Hansen and Kathy Dziubek also executive producing for Legendary Television. (Deadline.com)
LOST IN SPACE (Netflix, New!) - Legendary Television's revival of the cult classic series is bound for Netflix, with an eye toward a straight-to-series order. Writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold) and director Neil Marshall are behind the project, which is described as "an epic but grounded science fiction saga focusing on a young explorer family from earth lost in an alien universe and the challenges they face in staying together against seemingly insurmountable odds." Applebox Entertainment's Marc Helwig and Synthesis Entertainment's Kevin Burns will likewise executive produce. (Deadline.com)
