8 YEARS LOST (USA, New!) - Lauren MacKenzie and Andrew Gettens ("Complications") have sold a true crime documentary-esque drama to the cable channel which "tells the haunting story of Jayna Beckner, a teenage girl who went missing in 2007 and whose body is discovered eight years later." Universal Television is behind the project, with Blumhouse Television's Jason Blum also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
LOPEZ (TV Land; W: Dave Krinsky & John Altschuler; D: TBA) - Comedian Maronzio Vance has joined the cast of George Lopez's semi-autobiographical comedy, which explores how George struggles between his two worlds and crises - often of his own making. Too rich to go back to his working class, Latino roots, and too "brown" to feel comfortable in his affluent celebrity life, being George Lopez comes with many problems. He'll play "George's opening act comedian who's also trying to broaden his side career as a motivational speaker. As George's confidant, he often offers a less glamorous, matter-of-fact perspective when helping George with his problems." (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Netflix has reportedly given "an unofficial green light" to "Grace & Frankie" for a third season (Deadline.com); The U.S. Coast Guard and Armada Partners are developing "a scripted television series about the nation's oldest and premier maritime agency" (Deadline.com); Melissa Joan Hart and husband Mark Wilkerson are set to topline "Sweet Harts," a proposed docuseries "that follows the Harts' journey as they open up their dream dessert shop" (Deadline.com); Richard Kind is bound for "Elementary" as "gruff florist Trent Carson, who is so fed up with his noisy, eccentric neighbors, Sherlock and Joan, that he forms a plan to get even" (TVLine.com); and Ross Mathews has been tapped as the permanent host on entertainment news show "Hollywood Today Live," succeeding original co-hosts A.J.
