2 BLACK DUDES (FOX, New!) - J. Lee ("The Cleveland Show") has sold a single-camera comedy to the network about "two cousins, originally from St. Louis, with two completely different perspectives on life, who now live in Los Angeles and continuously bump heads on everything from religion, sex, politics, and being black in America all the way down to who's the best ninja turtle." Seth MacFarlane and Mike Mariano also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)
DESIGNATED SURVIVOR (ABC, New!) - Kiefer Sutherland ("24: Live Another Day") has signed on to star in a new drama for the Alphabet about when "a lower level United States Cabinet member (Sutherland) is suddenly appointed President after a catastrophic attack during the State of the Union kills everyone above him in the Presidential line of succession. This is a family drama wrapped around a conspiracy thriller about an ordinary man in an extraordinary situation." David Guggenheim (Safe House) penned the hour, which has a straight-to-series order. Guggenheim, Sutherland, Entertainment 360's Suzan Bymel, Genre Films' Simon Kinberg and the Mark Gordon Company's Mark Gordon will executive produce. Said effort is not to be confused with Nikki Toscano's similarly titled and themed effort, which was purchased last month by FOX. (Deadline.com)
HIGHLAND (Amazon, New!) - Margaret Cho is set to star in a potential hour-long dramedy at the streaming service starring Cho as a version of herself, who "after a court ordered rehab, gets a chance to start over but has to move in with her dysfunctional family who now runs a pot dispensary." Liz Sarnoff is penning the hour and will executive produce alongside Cho, Becky Clements and Marty Adelstein for Amazon Studios and Tomorrow Studios. (Deadline.com)
STAR (FOX/20th; W: Lee Daniels & Tom Donaghy; D: Lee Daniels) - Nicholas Gonzalez is the latest addition to the drama pilot, which follows three young women, who form a girl group with hopes of making it big in the music industry, and the choices with which they're faced along the way. He'll play "the abusive foster father of Simone (Brittany O'Grady), the younger sister of Star (Jude Demorest)." Benjamin Bratt, Queen Latifah and Ryan Destiny also star. (Deadline.com)
XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS (NBC; W: Javier Grillo-Marxuach; D: TBA) - Javier Grillo-Marxuach ("The 100") has been tapped to spearhead the show's revival at the Peacock. Original series' executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are attached however Lucy Lawless, who toplined the 1995-2001 series, is not currently involved. Michael Edelstein and JoAnn Alfano's NBC International Television Studios is producing. (Deadline.com)
