AMERICAN GOTHIC (CBS/CBSP; W: Corinne Brinkerhoff; D: TBA) - Juliet Rylance, Stephanie Leonidas and Gabriel Bateman have all signed onto the upcoming drama which centers on a prominent Boston family that is attempting to redefine itself in the wake of a chilling discovery that links their recently deceased patriarch to a string of murders spanning decades, amid the mounting suspicion that one of them may have been his accomplice. Rylance will play Alison, "a poised, driven Boston councilwoman in the midst of a heated campaign for mayor"; with Leonidas as "the seductive, irresistible, drug-addled Sophie, the estranged wife of Justin Chatwin's Cam"; and Bateman as "Sophie and Cam's precocious son Jack." Antony Starr and Megan Ketch also star. (TVLine.com)
EYEWITNESS (USA, New!) - Adi Hasak ("Shades of Blue") has scored a 10-episode order from the cable channel for a domestic take on the Norwegian crime thriller "Øyevitne," in which "two innocent teenage boys secretly meet up in the forest where they bear witness to a shooting and barely escape with their lives. Desperate to keep their relationship a secret and in fear of being found by the perpetrator, they remain silent but soon learn that what has been seen cannot be unseen and when you witness a horrible event it changes everything, forever." Original series' creator Jarl Emsell Larsen will also executive produce for Universal Cable Productions. (Deadline.com)
I DO CREW (The CW, New!) - Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith ("Significant Mother") have sold a new hour-long romantic dramedy to the netlet about "the events leading up to a destination wedding from the point of view of the friends of the bride and groom." Said effort comes from Warner Bros. Television with Little Engine Productions' Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
MY TIME/YOUR TIME (CBS/CBSP/Sony; W: Hilary Winston; D: TBA) - Hilary Winston's comedy's - based on the web series "7P/10E," which chronicles the relationship of a young couple as they begin dating long distance - has been ordered to pilot by the Eye. Originally sold as a single-camera project but has since converted to a hybrid multi-camera comedy. Carter Bays and Craig Thomas also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
NANCY DREW (CBS/CBSP; W: Joan Rater & Tony Phelan; D: TBA) - The Eye's contemporary take on the literary heroine - who is a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world - has been ordered to pilot. Dan Jinks is also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
UPPER MIDDLE BOGAN (CBS, New!) - A domestic take on Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope's Australian comedy - about "a wife and mother who learns she was adopted and that her birth parents are a flamboyant but loving family of drag-racers" - has been ordered to pilot by the Eye. Dan O'Shannon co-wrote the half-hour alongside said duo. The project, from ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios, was originally conceived as single-camera but will now be shot as a hybrid multi-camera. Dark Toy Entertainment's Todd Holland also serves as an executive producer and may presumably direct. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - George Pelecanos and David Simon's drama pilot "The Deuce," starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal, has reportedly been ordered to series (Deadline.com); Disney/ABC Domestic Television will pull the plug on "FABLife" after its current freshman run (Deadline.com); Rachel Kushner's book "Telex from Cuba" is being developed as a TV series by Paramount Television (Deadline.com); Johnathon Schaech has been cast as Old West hero Jonah Hex on "DC's Legends of Tomorrow"; (Deadline.com)
