Monday Night Football Team Will Call Pro Bowl from Aloha Stadium in Hawaii
ESPN's Monday Night Football team of Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden and reporter Lisa Salters will call the 2016 Pro Bowl Presented by USAA from Aloha Stadium in Hawaii on Sunday, January 31 (7 p.m. ET, ESPN). The telecast will also be available via WatchESPN, and in Spanish on ESPN Deportes (commentators: Alvaro Martin, Raul Allegre and reporter John Sutcliffe).
Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receivers Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice will serve as NFL Legends captains, while the staffs of the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers will coach the respective teams, which will be determined through tonight's draft. Active NFL player captains include Bengals DT Geno Atkins, Giants WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Rams DT Aaron Donald, and Falcons RB Devonta Freeman. Additionally, ESPN's Darren Woodson, a five-time Pro Bowler, and Eric Davis, a two-time Pro Bowler, will serve as defensive co-captains on Team Irvin and Team Rice, respectively.
Tonight: Live Coverage of Pro Bowl Draft - 7:30 p.m., ESPN2
ESPN's MNF team of Tirico, Gruden and Salters, and ESPN Deportes reporter Sutcliffe will host the live Pro Bowl Draft from Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii, tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET. The two-hour show will resemble an NFL Draft team meeting and will include NFL players and military members in the live audience. Release.
ESPN's planned production elements for Pro Bowl include:
· All quarterbacks wearing microphones;
· Aerial coverage via Spidercam;
· Live talk-backs with captains Irvin and Rice;
· Next Gen NFL stats applications;
· A wireless camera on the referee;
· Inside the locker room access;
· Sideline interviews with Salters.
ESPN is home to the annual Pro Bowl game through 2022, as part of the company's eight-year rights agreement with the NFL. This is the 12th time that ESPN has televised the Pro Bowl - 1988-94, 2004-06, 2010 and 2015. The Pro Bowl also aired on ABC from 1975-87 and 1995-03.
Pro Bowl Pregame: Two-Hour Postseason NFL Countdown Includes Chris Berman from Aloha Stadium
ESPN will have two editions of Postseason NFL Countdown on Pro Bowl Sunday, including a two-hour special (5 p.m., ESPN) leading into the game with host Chris Berman on-site at Aloha Stadium. The rest of the Countdown crew - host Suzy Kolber with analysts Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson and Keyshawn Johnson - will be in-studio in Bristol, Conn. NFL Insider Adam Schefter will also provide headlines and league news.
Earlier in the day, Wendi Nix will host a one-hour Countdown from Bristol (11 a.m.) with analysts Brian Dawkins and Jeff Saturday previewing Pro Bowl and the Broncos vs. Panthers matchup in Super Bowl 50.
