EAGLES DON HENLEY, BERNIE LEADON, TIMOTHY B. SCHMIT AND JOE WALSH TO PAY TRIBUTE TO GLENN FREY WITH JACKSON BROWNE
Music's Biggest Night(R) Hosted by LL COOL J
Six-time GRAMMY(R) Award winner Glenn Frey will be honored at THE 58TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS when the late musician's bandmates join close friend and collaborator Jackson Browne to perform a classic hit from the Eagles' legendary songbook. Eagles members - including eight-time GRAMMY Award winner and current nominee Don Henley, GRAMMY Award winner Bernie Leadon, three-time GRAMMY Award winner Timothy B. Schmit and five-time GRAMMY Award winner Joe Walsh - will be joined by Browne in a one-time-only special tribute to Frey. THE 58TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS will be broadcast live from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Monday, Feb. 15 (8:00-11:30 PM, live ET/check local listings for other time zones) on the CBS Television Network.
Entertainment icon and two-time GRAMMY Award winner LL COOL J is set to host Music's Biggest Night for the fifth consecutive year.
"Glenn Frey's untimely passing was a huge loss for the entire creative community," said Neil Portnow, President and CEO of The Recording Academy(R). "For more than 45 years, the Eagles have played a significant role in shaping our musical landscape. We are honored to welcome the band, along with Jackson Browne, to the GRAMMY stage in tribute to Glenn's tremendous legacy."
Eagles founding member Glenn Frey is a six-time GRAMMY winner. His wins include Record Of The Year for "Hotel California" in 1978 and, most recently, Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "I Dreamed There Was No War" in 2009.
"Given the impact that the Eagles have had on music, it was only right that we have a moment for Glenn, the band's co-founder," said Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the GRAMMY Awards. "We couldn't think of a more appropriate way to honor him than by bringing together his bandmates and longtime friend Jackson Browne, to play an Eagles classic that forever changed popular music. It'll be an emotional moment for many of us - one of reflection, respect and celebration."
Henley is currently nominated, with Stan Lynch, for Best American Roots Song for "The Cost Of Living" from his Cass County album.
THE 58TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS(R) are produced by AEG Ehrlich Ventures for The Recording Academy. Ken Ehrlich is executive producer, Louis J. Horvitz is director and David Wild and Ehrlich are the writers.
