CONVICTION (ABC/ABCS; W: Liz Friedlander & Liz Friedman; D: Liz Friedlander) - Shawn Ashmore (X-Men: Days of Future Past) has joined the cast of the drama pilot, about Carter Morrison (Hayley Atwell), the brilliant but rebellious daughter of a Clinton-like political family who is forced into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles' newly created Conviction Integrity Unit. He's set as Sam Sullivan, "a top Assistant District Attorney who was originally promised the job of heading the new unit and is not pleased that he was passed over for the job. Nonetheless, he makes the decision to soldier on." (Deadline.com)

GOOD PLACE (NBC/Universal; W: Michael Schur; D: Drew Goddard) - William Jackson Harper has been cast in the upcoming comedy, about Eleanor (Kristen Bell), a woman from New Jersey who comes to realize that she hasn't been a very good person. She decides to turn over a new leaf by learning what it actually means to be "good" or "bad," and then trying to make up for her past behavior. Ted Danson plays Michael, who, through an unlikely set of circumstances, comes to be Eleanor's guide through her self-designed self-improvement course. Harper then is set as Chris, "a kind and extremely intelligent guy who always sees the good in people." (Deadline.com)

MY TIME/YOUR TIME (CBS/CTS/Sony; W: Hilary Winston; D: Pamela Fryman) - Nicholas Braun (How to Be Single) is set to star opposite Jane Levy in the Carter Bays and Craig Thomas-produced comedy pilot, which chronicles the relationship of a young couple as they begin dating long distance. He'll play Wade, the other half of said couple, "a guy who things have always come easy for (friends, girls, jobs). That's why he decided he'd move to LA and give it a shot in the big city but real adult life has been a little bit of a shock." (Deadline.com)

NOTORIOUS (ABC/ABCS/Sony; W: Allie Hagan & Josh Berman; D: Michael Engler) - Daniel Sunjata ("Graceland") has been tapped for the lead role on the drama pilot, which follows the professional and personal relationship between a charismatic attorney and a powerhouse television producer as they attempt to control the media, the justice system, and ultimately - each other. He'll play Jake Gregorian, "a charismatic and sexy defense attorney, who manipulates the media to win cases at any cost." (Deadline.com)

OA, THE (Netflix; W: Brit Marling & Zal Batmanglij; D: Zal Batmanglij) - Scott Wilson ("The Walking Dead") has signed onto the upcoming top secret drama from the streaming service. He'll play Abel Johnson, the adoptive father of Prairie Johnson, played by Marling. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)

PITCH (FOX/20th; W: Dan Fogelman & Rick Singer; D: Paris Barclay) - Mark-Paul Gosselaar ("Truth Be Told") has been tapped for a role on the drama pilot, about Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury), a young female pitcher who defies the odds when she becomes the first woman to play in the major leagues as part of the San Diego Padres. He'll play Mike Lawson, "a handsome, charming, self-assured future Hall of Fame MLB catcher." (Deadline.com)

SIX (History/A+E; W: David Broyles & William Broyles; D: Lesli Linka Glatter) - Kyle Schmid is the latest to board the drama series, which follows a brotherhood of modern American warriors, Navy SEAL Team Six, the best of the best, whose 2014 mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with the terrorists. He'll play Alex Caulder, "a witty, efficient, and philosophical soldier, a veteran Navy Seal and one of the key members of Seal Team Six." (Deadline.com)

SUPERIOR DONUTS (CBS/CTS; W: Bob Daily, Garrett Donovan & Neil Goldman; D: James Burrows) - Comedian Maz Jobrani is the latest to be cast in the multi-camera comedy pilot, which follows the relationship between Arthur (yet to be cast), the owner of a donut shop; Franco (Jermaine Fowler), his new young employee; and their patrons in a gentrifying neighborhood of Chicago. He'll play Maz, "who is a high-energy, over-caffeinated businessman, capitalism personified and living the American dream. Maz has been buying up buildings and investing in businesses in the Uptown neighborhood, waiting for gentrification to come and make him rich, and he's constantly after Arthur to sell him the donut shop so he can control the entire block." (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED ALEX GIBNEY PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney (Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief) is back in business with the pay channel, this time for a scripted project about "a court-appointed psychiatrist who must determine from her twisted yet humanizing diagnostic exchanges with death row inmates if they are sane enough to be killed by the state." Laura Dern is already attached to star and executive produce the hour with Jayme Lemons serving as co-executive producer and Robert Kealing as a consultant. (Deadline.com)
