ACCLAIMED FRENCH ACTRESS IRÈNE JACOB JOINS "THE AFFAIR" IN MAJOR RECURRING ROLE

LOS ANGELES, CA - August 9, 2016 - BAFTA and César Award-nominated Irène Jacob, often called the preeminent French actress of her generation, has joined the season three cast of the Golden Globe(R)-winning SHOWTIME(R) drama series THE AFFAIR in a major season-long arc. Jacob will play Juliette Le Gall, a new love interest of Noah's (Dominic West), running from her own secrets, who helps him process a trauma from his past and understand himself a little better. Season three is currently in production in New York, and will premiere on Sunday, November 20th at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME.

Jacob was first introduced to audiences with Au Revoir les Enfants, a film directed by Louis Malle in which she played a piano teacher. She was the heroine of The Double Life of Veronique, winning Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival. Two years later, she appeared in Red, the final chapter in the Three Colors trilogy of films directed by Krzisztof Kielowski. Additional film credits include U.S. Marshals, The Secret Garden, Victory, Incognito and Oliver Parker's adaptation of William Shakespeare's Othello. Jacob has had an international career working with renowned directors that include Michelangelo Antonioni, Paul Auster, Hugh Hudson, Agnieszka Holland, Theo Angelopoulos, Claude Lelouch, Paul Schrader, Tran Anh Hung, Irina Brook, Oriza Hirata, David Lescot and Philippe Calvario.

THE AFFAIR stars Golden Globe nominee Dominic West, Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson, Emmy Award nominee Maura Tierney and Screen Actors Guild nominee Joshua Jackson. The series explores the emotional and psychological effects of an affair that destroyed two marriages, and the crime that brings these individuals back together. Season 3 of THE AFFAIR picks up three years after Noah's (West) shocking admission of guilt at the murder trial of Scott Lockhart. Noah attempts to restart his life, but the damage wrought by his past decisions has made him a ghost of his former self. Alison (Wilson) has been raising daughter Joanie alongside Cole (Jackson) and Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno) in Montauk, but Alison's past continues to rear its ugly head as Cole and Luisa attempt to build their own future. For Helen (Tierney), life appears to continue on, but just below the surface of a successful business and a bustling home lies uncertainty with her boyfriend Vik (Omar Metwally), instability amongst her children, and an unshakeable feeling of guilt. Additional season three guest stars will include Brendan Fraser and Jennifer Esposito. Award-winning playwright and writer/producer Sarah Treem (House of Cards, In Treatment) and Hagai Levi (In Treatment) created the series. Treem serves as executive producer, along with Jeffrey Reiner (Friday Night Lights).
