Further cast announced to join Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks on Sky Atlantic's new revenge thriller, Tin Star
Sky Atlantic today announced an esteemed cast including Genevieve O'Reilly (Star Wars, The Honourable Woman), Abigail Lawrie (The Casual Vacancy) , Oliver Coopersmith (Dickensian), Christopher Heyerdahl (True Blood, Hell on Wheels), Stephen Walters (Outlander), Ian Puleston-Davies (Marcella), Roark Critchlow (Pretty Little Liars) Sarah Podemski (Cashing In), Kevin Hanchard (Orphan Black) and Ryan Kennedy (Major Crimes) are to join lead actors BAFTA winner Tim Roth (The Hateful Eight) and six time Emmy nominee Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) in its epic new revenge thriller, Tin Star.
Currently filming in the beautiful and remote Rocky Mountains of Canada and due to air in 2017, Tin Star is produced by Kudos, the makers of BAFTA award-winning Broadchurch and Humans, and is penned by acclaimed screenwriter Rowan Joffe (28 Weeks Later, The American).
Tin Star tells the story of Jim Worth (Tim Roth), an expat British police officer starting a new life with his family as police chief in Little Big Bear, an idyllic town near the Rocky Mountains. Not long after their arrival, the opening of an oil refinery nearby leads to Little Big Bear becoming a boom town, bringing with it a wave of drugs, prostitution and organised crime.
When Jim takes a stand against the oil company, it's not long before someone makes an attempt on his life. But when Jim ducks the bullet meant for him it leaves a member of his family dead instead. With the gang of killers still in town, the police chief becomes hell-bent on violent revenge.
Did the oil company's uneasy alliance of Mrs Bradshaw (Christina Hendricks) and Louis Gagnon (Christopher Heyerdahl) hire the assassins? Or are the gang's motives connected to Jim's violent, alcoholic past? As the police chief's world continues to unravel, the line between hero and villain becomes blurred. Will Jim's lust for bloody vengeance put his family's life in further danger still?
Commissioned for Sky by head of drama Anne Mensah, commissioning editor Cameron Roach and director of Sky Atlantic Zai Bennett, Tin Star is executive produced by Alison Jackson (Hunted) and Kudos CEO Diederick Santer (Grantchester) and produced by Jonathan Curling (The Secret) for Kudos. International distribution is to be handled by Endemol Shine International and Sky Vision.
Tin Star joins 12 original drama series already on air or set to air over the next couple of years on Sky Atlantic and Sky 1 in the UK & Ireland. These include returning series' Penny Dreadful, Fortitude, Agatha Raisin alongside new series The Young Pope, Hooten & The Lady, Guerrilla, Delicious, Riviera, Jamestown, Britannia and The Last Dragonslayer.
It has been a very successful year for Sky original drama, which includes BAFTA nominations for The Last Panthers and The Enfield Haunting, and record-breaking audiences for Sky 1's Stan Lee's Lucky Man.
