CHARLIE FOXTROT (ABC, New!) - Sam Sklaver ("Blunt Talk") has scored a put pilot commitment from the Alphabet for a single-camera comedy about Charlie Taylor, "a cautious, quiet dentist stationed at Fort Bragg, who, after his brother Joe is killed in action, must honor his promise to take care of Joe's teenage step-kids and fiancée, Angelina, a defiant troublemaker whose impulsive behavior forces Charlie to be the hero he never imagined he could be." ABC Studios and Kapital Entertainment are behind the half-hour with Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
GYPSY (Netflix) - Melanie Liburd ("Dark Matter") has been cast in the upcoming 10-episode psychological thriller series. She'll play a paralegal on the project, which begins filming in New York this month. (Deadline.com)
LEGEND OF MASTER LEGEND, THE (Amazon) - James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now) has signed on to helm the comedy pilot, based on Joshuah Bearman's Rolling Stone article about real-life superheroes. (Deadline.com)
LOST IN SPACE (Netflix) - Taylor Russell ("Falling Skies") is the first to be cast in the streaming service's reboot of the classic sci-fi series. She'll play daughter Judy, a role originated by Marta Kristen in the '60s series and Heather Graham in the 1998 feature film. (TVLine.com)
MAKING HISTORY (FOX) - Ben Vereen will recur on the midseason comedy as Dr. Theodore Anthony Cobell, "an eminent professor in the college History Department and the vaunted mentor of Chris (Yassir Lester)." (Deadline.com)
MIRACLE COMMISSION (FOX, New!) - Jeff Eastin ("Graceland") has sold "an aspirational drama" to the network which "centers on an NYPD chaplain who is paired with a prominent skeptic to investigate alleged miracles in New York." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the hour, which has a penalty attached. PITCH (FOX) - Rita Wilson and Lyndsy Fonseca are both bound for the newcomer as "a psychiatrist hired by Ginny's team, the San Diego Padres, to counsel her" and "carefree waitress who befriends Ginny and opens her eyes to the world of normal 20-somethings," respectively. (TVLine.com)
ROADIES (Showtime) - Cameron Crowe took to his blog with the news that the pay channel's series will not return for a second season: "My mind is still spinning from the giddy highs of working with this epic cast and crew. Though we could tell a thousand more stories, this run ends with a complete ten-hour tale of music and love. STAR TREK: DISCOVERY (CBS) - Executive producer Alex Kurtzman has signed an overall deal with CBS Television Studios where he'll set up his solo production company, Secret Hideout, after previously partnering with Roberto Orci in K/O Paper Products. Said company's Heather Kadin will transition to Kurtzman's venture. (Deadline.com)
YOUNGER (TV Land) - Ben Rappaport ("Mr. Robot") will recur on the show's third season as "medical intern Max Horowitz, a new love interest for Lauren Heller (Molly Bernard).
