MTV ANNOUNCES A FULL HOUR OF COMEDY WITH THE PREMIERES OF TWO BRAND NEW SERIES "THE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE GAME SHOW" AND "ACTING OUT"
Back-to-Back Series Premieres to Air on Thursday, October 13 Beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT
Santa Monica, CA - September 20, 2016- MTV today announced a new comedy block as part of the Fall schedule, with the premieres of two brand new series "The Almost Impossible Game Show" and "Acting Out" which will debut Thursday, October 13 at 10:00 p.m.
"The Almost Impossible Game Show" is an absurd comedy game show that's so hard to beat, contestants are given 40 lives...and probably still won't win! Brought to you by the producers of "Wipe Out," "The Almost Impossible Game Show" is based on the popular UK series of the same name. Each episode of this outlandish new series features six neon-clad contestants taking on simple, yet hilariously difficult games. To win, these brave contestants must complete four of the six games, without running out of lives. If they fail a game, they've got to do it again... and again... and AGAIN. Contestants don't compete against each other, but against the game itself. With challenges such as riding a tiny bike across a balance beam over a mud pit, putting on a pair of trousers while sprinting on a giant treadmill, and inflating a balloon to the point of popping using only the power of your buttocks, contestants will never know what's next. Comedy duo The Rubber Bandits provide anarchic commentary and their own twisted take as the contestants try to make the almost-impossible possible!
"Acting Out" hosted by comedian Lil Rel Howery, is an outrageous comedy series in which the most irreverent, established and up-and-coming comedians of today will perform their best stand-up routines and have it simultaneously acted out. We'll see hilarious reenactments of the best bits, bringing new life to your favorite moments from stand up.
Hailing from Chicago, Lil Rel Howery currently stars alongside Jerrod Carmichael and David Alan Grier on the acclaimed NBC comedy series "The Carmichael Show." He starred in truTV's "Friends Of The People" and his critically-acclaimed Comedy Central special, "RELevent" now streaming on Netflix. This year, he has a supporting role in the upcoming Jordan Peele feature film. Other television credits include BET's "Comic View," FOX's animated series "Lucas Bros Moving Co." and Comedy Central's "Comedy Underground" with Dave Attell.
"The Almost Impossible Game Show" is produced by Endemol Shine North America in association with Left Hook Media. Matt Odgers and Scott Teti serve as executive producers for Left Hook Media Georgie Hurford-Jones and Rob Smith are executive producers for Endemol Shine North America.
"Acting Out" is produced by A Smith & Co. Productions ("Hell's Kitchen," "American Ninja Warrior"). Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Frank Sinton, and Page Hurwitz serve as executive producers.
