A&E NETWORK'S EMMY(R)-WINNING DOCUSERIES "BORN THIS WAY"
RENEWED FOR A THIRD SEASON
WINNER OF THE 2016 EMMY AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING UNSTRUCTERED REALITY SERIES OFFERS AN INTIMATE LOOK AT THE LIVES OF YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN BORN WITH DOWN SYNDROME
SEASON TWO FINALE AIRS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 AT 10PM ET/PT
NEW YORK, NY - September 26, 2016 - After winning the 2016 Emmy(R) Award for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Series, A&E Network's critically-acclaimed docuseries "Born This Way" has been picked up for a third season. Ten one-hour episodes have been ordered. The announcement was made today by Elaine Frontain Bryant, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming for A&E.
"'Born This Way' is a shining example of what the entertainment business needs more of - powerful, thought-provoking storytelling with a greater purpose," said Frontain Bryant. "It was incredibly rewarding to see the show recognized with the Emmy Award for giving a platform to the extraordinary abilities and wisdom of the cast and their families."
Currently in its second season, "Born This Way" provides an intimate look at a diverse group of young men and women with Down syndrome as they pursue their passions and lifelong dreams, explore friendships, romantic relationships and work, all while defying society's expectations. The series also gives a voice to the parents, allowing them to talk about the joy their son or daughter brings to their family, and the challenges they face in helping them live as independently as possible.
In addition to the Emmy win, earlier this year the show was chosen as one of six honorees for the 2016 Television Academy Honors, an award that recognizes television programming that inspires, informs and motivates.
The season two finale of "Born This Way" airs Tuesday, September 27th at 10PM ET/PT on A&E.
"Born This Way" is produced by Bunim/Murray Productions ("The Real World"). Executive producers for Bunim/Murray are Jonathan Murray, Gil Goldschein and Laura Korkoian. Kasey Barrett serves as co-executive producer. Executive producers for A&E Network are Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro and Drew Tappon. "Born This Way" is distributed internationally by A+E Networks.
