CMT CASTS GOLDEN GLOBE(R) AND EMMY AWARD(R)-WINNING ACTRESS JANE SEYMOUR IN "HIS WIVES & DAUGHTERS" PILOT
NASHVILLE - October 31, 2016 - CMT today announced that Golden Globe(R) and Emmy Award(R)-winning actress Jane Seymour ("Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman," "Wedding Crashers") has been cast in the upcoming pilot "His Wives & Daughters," the soapy, comedic series centering on the eclectic and cunning wives and daughters of larger-than-life country music legend and infamous womanizer, Eddie Ray Banks. After Eddie's estranged family is brought together unexpectedly, tempers flare and old rivalries resurface setting the stage for startling secrets to emerge as an unforgettable mystery begins to unfold.
Seymour will play Lorna Larson Banks, Eddie's gorgeous, tough-as-nails and force-to-be-reckoned-with first wife who parlayed her early career success as a duo with Eddie into a huge solo career that eventually matched or even eclipsed her former husband's. Now one of the most famous women in country music, Lorna has her own successful theater in Branson and is slightly out of touch with reality as a result of being in the public eye for so long. She and Eddie have one daughter together, April, but Lorna hasn't spoken to her since April published a salacious tell-all memoir.
Additional casting for "His Wives & Daughters" will be announced at a later date and production is slated to begin this January.
"His Wives & Daughters" joins CMT's growing roster of scripted programming including the highly-anticipated new season of "Nashville" on Thursday, January 5; the March premiere of the limited-run series "Million Dollar Quartet" (working title), which chronicles young Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis' and more rise to fame; and the second season premiere of "Still The King" starring Billy Ray Cyrus this spring. Additional scripted projects in development include a script order for a television adaptation of "Varsity Blues."
A multiple Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R) winner, recipient of the Officer of the British Empire (OBE) in the year 2000, which was bestowed upon her by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, Jane Seymour has proven her talents in virtually all media, the Broadway stage, motion pictures and television. Her love of art and color has led to her great success as a painter in watercolors and oils and as a designer. Seymour's past films include the James Bond movie "Live and Let Die," the cult classic "Somewhere in Time," and the comedy smash "Wedding Crashers." Her television credits include the Emmy(R) Award winning performance in "Onassis: The Richest Man in the World" as Maria Callas, "East of Eden" for which she was awarded a Golden Globe(R), the mini-series "War and Remembrance" and her Golden Globe(R) winning role as "Dr. Quinn" on "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman" which ran for six seasons. Most recent projects for Seymour include the Netflix feature "Sandy" opposite Adam Sandler, the independent feature films "Bereave" co-starring Malcolm McDowell which she produces, "Scout and High Strung," for which she is also an executive producer. She returns to series television in the UK Sky TV drama "Hooten and the Lady" which debuted in September. In 2014, she served as an executive producer on the documentary film "Glen Campbell... I'll Be Me" which told the touching story of musician's Glen Campbell's farewell tour while dealing with the effects of Alzheimer's. She is represented by Innovative Artists and Paul Mayersohn of Surpin, Mayersohn & Coghill.
"His Wives & Daughters" is written, created and co-executive produced by Dina Chapman and Steve Sessions, with Jayson Dinsmore and Julia Silverton as executive producers for CMT. Casting done by Debby Romano and Brett Benner.
