CAR WASH (ABC, New!) - Writers Rob Horn and Matt Claybrooks are set to team with director Kenny Leon for a single-camera comedy based on the 1976 feature film which "explores the family we build in order to survive - as seen through one kid's determination to create his own destiny, one man's struggle to accept who he has become and the bonds they form at an iconic Hollywood destination: Deluxe Car Wash." Universal Television-based Will Packer Productions is behind the half-hour, which has a penalty attached. Horn, Claybrooks, Packer, Korin D. Huggins, Kelly Meyer, Eric Carlson and Susan Carlson are executive producing with Leon as a co-executive producer. (THR.com)
CONVICTION (ABC) - The Alphabet has opted against ordering additional episodes of the Hayley Atwell-led drama. The series will instead wrap its run after 13 episodes and remain under consideration for a second season. (Deadline.com)
DEAD OF SUMMER (Freeform) - The cable channel has passed on a second season of the horror series, from co-creators Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis and Ian Goldberg. (Deadline.com)
GOLDBERGS, THE (ABC) - The Alphabet is developing a spin-off of the veteran comedy focusing on Bryan Callen's character, no-nonsense high school gym teacher/coach Rick Mellor. Marc Firek and Adam F. Goldberg will pen the script to the project, which has a penalty attached. Said effort "centers on two high school teachers who become unlikely father figures to the school secretary's three misfit kids." Doug Robinson and Seth Gordon of the Sony Pictures Television-based Happy Madison will also executive produce. (THR.com)
HOW MAY WE HATE YOU (CBS, New!) - Warren Lieberstein ("Back in the Game") has sold a multi-camera comedy to the Eye which "revolves around the employees at a trendy New York City hotel." CBS Television Studios is behind the half-hour, which is based on the book of the same name by Anna Drezen and Todd Dakotah Briscoe. Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor and Wendi Trilling also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
LAST MAN ON EARTH/MAKING HISTORY/SON OF ZORN (FOX) - Executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have inked a new three-year overall with producer 20th Century Fox Television. Said pact will cover their duties on said trio as well as their future development alongside Lord Miller's head of television Seth Cohen. (Deadline.com)
SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT (Netflix) - Kim Director (Inside Man) is set to recur on the Spike Lee series as Bianca, "a character not in the original film, new to the updated series." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BRAD COPELAND PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Brad Copeland ("Life in Pieces") has sold a single-camera comedy to the Alphabet about "a young couple struggles to balance marriage and suburban life with the fact that one of them is in the Illuminati." The project, which has a penalty attached, comes from Sony Pictures Television-based Point Grey Pictures with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MIKE ROSOLIO PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Mike Rosolio (Lemmings) has set up a single-camera comedy at the network about "an ambitious MIT graduate who gets a job working for a Steve Jobs-esque tech genius, only to learn he's also a vigilante superhero by night forcing her to become the unwitting Alfred to his Batman." Sony Pictures Television-based Point Grey Pictures is behind the half-hour, which has a penalty attached. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
VIKINGS (History) - Ida Marie Nielsen (Anna Pihl) has scored an arc on the series as Margrethe, "a young Viking servant who is a love interest to a lead character. Margrethe is clever and resilient, yet vulnerable at the same time." (Deadline.com)
WILL (TNT) - Jasmin Savoy Brown ("The Leftovers") is bound for the new drama as Emilia Bassano, "who is the 'Dark Lady' of Will's sonnets. A musician, poet, writer, and proto-feminist, Emilia is an exotic and strikingly beautiful young woman. One of the most desired women in all of London, and mistress to the powerful Lord Hunsdon, Emilia goes on to become the first female professional English poet." (Deadline.com)
